Overall the hotel, staff, facilities, room and decor where amazing absolutely no complaints other than the restaurant, frankly it was very disappointing, the only steak option was sirloin, no other cuts available on the menu and the sirloin itself was very underwhelming i have seen better ordered from a chipper take away, the duck was a nice dish however it would be so much better if it was crispy instead of soggy skin, the mash potatoes where as if they where made the day before and microwaved, the accompanied veg was bland overcooked and flavourless, the potatoes in the gratin potatoes where not fukly cooked and the fried brie was simply dropped into a deep fat fryer that was too hot as it obviously cooked too fast evident by the near burnt coating while the inside was not actually melted fully, there was 4 or 5 options for red wine and none of which great selection not to mention the table wobbling the whole time as its uneven. It is crazy to try call this an 'Italian' restaurant just because it has pasta and pizza on the menu, how anyone with any culinary knowledge can in their right mind call a dish "carbonara" when it has spring onions and white wine sauce etc is lunacy! Stick to traditional ingredients eggs, cheese, black pepper and guanciale!! Dont try fix what is not broken.... The hotel was incredible and the carvary in the other bar was amazing but i could not recommend the restaurant to anyone as it currently stands. But i would have zero hesitation in booking the hotel again in the future the staff where so welcoming. (the hottub water was horrendous though looked like it had not been cleaned in a week)
