Excellent location, 5 min taxi distance of Tianshuinan train station. Hotel staff, in particular the front desk gentleman was very helpful with planning our trip to Maijishan Grottoes. Room has Philips tv so we could connect our laptop with a HDMI cable and watch western movie. If you visit Maijishan, the taxi to the visitor center is ¥40, sometimes fixed fee ¥60, no more. It is 30 minutes from the hotel. At the visitor center you purchase tickets. We preordered them with the help of the front desk but it turned out that was not needed, there are enough tickets out of mayor high season. From the visitor center you take the bus to the grottoes. If you have time, purchase special tickets for private entrance to some of the more special grottoes. The regular visit takes appr 2 hours. The hotel has a washing area, very convenient and an excellent breakfast.
We had a very pleasant stay at Hilton Lanzhou City Centre. Many thanks to front office staff, Debbie who attended to us warmly and responsively. The hotel's location was good and the check-in was very fast. Our high-floor room was clean and comfortable, the best is, choice of pillows is granted. We thoroughly enjoyed the sunrise view of the city from our window. A point to note, the room window can only be unlocked by staff for cooler air flow as the central heating system is in operation for the current winter season. We also loved the fragrant of the toiletries. Buffet breakfast spread was tasty and varied. We spent a relaxing time enjoying our breakfast slowly.
ゲゲストWe arrived at the accommodation when it was raining heavily. There were a lot of leaks from the roof, when we entered the room we simply saw that the mattress was completely wet as a result of the leak. We then moved to another room where there was a leak in the bathroom as well as a lot of dirt, including in the toilet. In the meantime, the girl at the desk honored us with a very tasty local watermelon. She apologized for the situation and moved us to another room. The next room was a huge room, I think it was their suite. The room itself was really comfortable and large, but it was simply full of spiders and cobwebs. We decided that we would still stay in the room despite its poor maintenance. They cleaned the room for us a little, but it didn't help, but we had no more strength to complain. We cleaned it ourselves so that the stay would be reasonable. It should be noted that the place only has a solar water heater, so on cloudy and rainy days there will be no hot water as happened to us on the day of arrival. We asked the staff in the evening for tomatoes and onions and they happily gave us them free of charge. This is noteworthy and thank you for that. It should be noted that the Didi does not always arrive at the accommodation location, they offer a paid shuttle, which is convenient. On the second day we went out to the dunes at sunrise, the guy at the desk insisted that we would be cold and gave us some kind of sand socks. Only when we returned did we realize that it was actually a fee of 20 for both of us (just like on the website, and much more than supermarkets in the area). We did not understand why we were not told that it was a fee, plus it looked used and did not come in a plastic wrap. Apart from this incident, the staff was nice and helped us with the shuttle (for a fee). The breakfast was great, and they tried to help us according to our vegetarianism. We wanted to extend our stay after cleaning the room ourselves and it was decent and good, but the price was high for us, which is perfectly fine and reasonable on their part, and we decided to leave.
RRoszaimySuper awesome stay! The host was very responsive when answering my inquiries via trip.com or Wechat (both have built-in translator). She picked me up at the bus stop (bus no 34 from Tianshui) and drove past the gate of the scenic area. After checkin process, she helped me by driving to the ticket office for the grottoes then drove uphill to the grottoes’ entrance. She actually offered to pick me up again after finishing the grottoes but I decided to just walk back to the guesthouse (pleasant downhill walk for about 1.5km in nice weather). The next day she dropped me off again at the bus stop (not that far, around 1.2km away, possible to walk actually). The room is fantastic; cool, fast wifi, water kettle, working hot shower and thick blankets. Overall, it was an amazing experience to stay there and to enjoy what Maijishan Grottoes have to offer. Will definitely recommend this guesthouse to any friends who are interested to experience the scenic area.

Title: An Unforgettable Oasis of Hospitality - A Solo Traveler's Dream!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I cannot recommend this exquisite home stay highly enough! My five-day visit was nothing short of perfection, from the moment I arrived until my warm departure.
As a female solo traveler from abroad, safety and welcome are my top priorities, and this family went above and beyond to make me feel like part of their home. My journey began with a incredibly gracious complimentary pick-up from Dunhuang airport, which immediately eased any travel fatigue.
The hospitality only blossomed from there. The host family provided me with such genuine individual attention, offering personalized advice for visiting the breathtaking Crescent Moon Lake and the awe-inspiring Mogao Grottoes. Their tips were invaluable and helped me experience these wonders to the fullest.
Now, the food! Each meal was a delight—authentic, home-cooked, and prepared fresh with so much care. It was truly delicious and gave me a real taste of local cuisine.
My room was a haven of comfort and cleanliness, kept absolutely spotless throughout my stay. A wonderful daily touch was the replenishment of complimentary beverages: refreshing peach tea, pure water, and delicious coconut water—perfect after a day of exploring the desert.
The most touching moment came upon my departure when the hosts presented me with exquisite souvenirs from the Mogao Grottoes. It was a gesture of such kindness and generosity that I will forever cherish.
This home stay is a gem, perfectly suited for solo travelers seeking a safe and welcoming environment, couples looking for a unique retreat, or families wanting an authentic experience. I am already counting down the days until I can return next summer. A heartfelt thank you to the most wonderful hosts!

ゲゲストWe really enjoyed our stay here. From the very first moment we entered the home stay we felt welcomed. Every day we received a delicious fruit plate. The breakfast was really delicious as well with lots of fresh cooked vegetables. Our girls loved the friendly little white dog (they named her Snowy). The host family suggested us things to do in the area and even drove us to the entrance. The room was exactly like at the picture, cozy and clean. We are sad that we could not stay longer but we definitely want to come back one day!
