Great experience, glad we stayed here! We were on the 28th (top) floor in a Club King room with views looking east over the Cathedral, could see the river, stadiums and as far as the hills. Underground parking. Luxurious couch, bed, bathroom - deep bath, separate rain shower. Service around the hotel was excellent. Very quiet and didn’t feel busy at all. Perfect for relaxation. Spent time at the pool reading and enjoying some sunshine. Loved the modern decor and artwork of the hotel as well as some history around the area. Walking distance to anywhere. Club lounge and Garum (breakfast) had nice food and drinks options - catered for Gluten Free but not amazing - room for improvement there. Lounge atmosphere was quiet, perhaps a little more upbeat music, but only a minor thing. Otherwise, very happy with our choice to stay here for the first time. Good times, didn’t want to leave. Thank you!
I stayed a night at the European Hotel in April 2023. Picked it from the many hotels I researched because it looked quaint and unique, and not like a cookie cutter modern hotel, and was so happy that it lived up to my expectations. I arrived early and was greeted pleasantly by the reception staff who arrived at about the same time as me. Was allowed to leave my luggage in a locked luggage room, and to use an upstairs bathroom to have a quick wash up after my flight, before setting out to explore Perth. There is no one manning the reception or entrance after 7pm or so (I think that is the time but I could be mis-remembering), so I was given a key to let myself in should I arrive back at the hotel later than that. That made it feel personal, as though you were being given the house keys! Sadly the famous Miss Maud's Cafe is no longer there, but there was a pleasant little cafe attached to the lobby where I had a hot coffee and sandwich. The hotel's location is very central, I was able to walk to the WA Visitor Center to get more info about what to do in Perth, and after a long day exploring, got one of the CAT buses which dropped me off about 5 to 10 minutes walk away. The room, a single, was small but perfectly adequate, with a clean bathroom and lots of hot water. The only not-so-nice-thing was that there was no view, there was just a small window quite high up which looked at another block. But for somewhere just to clean up and rest, it was more than enough. Would recommend staying here if you are not into those modern, perfect but rather characterless hotels, and would like to be in a very accessible area.
#australiatrip A nice place to visit to learn a bit more about history of Perth and the Swan Bells. Quite fascinating to learn how the bell tower works. The tower is not that tall hence do not expect a bird's eye view of Perth when you go up to the top. Still a good place to be added into your itinerary when you visit Perth City. Entrance fees required.
Highest level was viewing, 5 level was viewing of the big bell and 4 level was watching the big bell ring and information on the bells.
The gallery displays historical paintings (mostly early Australian paintings), and modern contemporary artworks which is really stunning.
