Having decided to stop in Abbeville on our way back to the UK for a short stay we booked this IBIS rather than the IBIS budget for one reason only, they have a restaurant and as an added bonus it has a gluten free menu. Imagine our surprise when arriving at the hotel to find that they don’t have a gluten free menu and that the options were very limited not only for dinner but also for breakfast. To be honest on our return trip from the UK they did provide gluten free madeleines for breakfast but then the restaurant was not open on the Saturday night, we were told there wasn’t a chef, could this be because there were only 8 cars in the car park !. We received an email asking us to comment on the facilities etc and when we did we received an email saying they weren’t going to publish it as their website doesn’t say they have a gluten free menu, please see photo I have attached for proof that it does. As regards facilities the shower was in one of those toilet, sink, shower pods and there was some mound where the two pieces of the shower joined. This IBIS won’t stop me using others in the chain but I will not be going back there. Maybe try the IBIS budget if you intend staying in Abbeville as you don’t seem to get better facilities by paying more.

We stayed here for one night and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our room was on the top floor, with large windows that looked out over a landscaped rotary and let in lots of light. The room, newly renovated by the owner, was very clean and attractively furnished. The bed was one of the most comfortable we'd ever slept in. Excellent bathroom, but it could use some hooks and/or towel racks.There was nowhere to hang towels or clothing, and not much room on the sink for cosmetic bags. The owner was very friendly, and most likely would have carried our luggage to our room had we needed assistance. There's no elevator. A bonus is the free parking across the street!

so en route from the Chunnel after long drive in Uk we looked for somewhere better than a shed hotel but not swanky.This place "the blue feather" is very new and clean and seems to be an old folks home of separate apartments -without the nurses and smell of wee. Not not quite a hotel. The apartment we had was large (no 11) and was with "utilities" so you could cook make drinks etc .bathroom bedroom and lounge diner with little outside area with table -ground floor so disabled friendly.No settee but 2 tv.s,.table chairs etc but really only sleeps a couple in smallish double bed.No place to kids except maybe a carry cot. we ate the only choice of food -the €10 menu which was basic and designed for those with false teeth -on the dot at 7pm or forget it so as you see not a hotel.Ditto the bar.Dont come for the food! had a lovely swim in the 31o pool -about 9 x 4 metres and sauna which you need to switch on before you use it-give it 3 cycles to heat up whilst swimming! A robe was provided -size S and I am XXL so must have given the oldies a laff as you pass through the var seating to get to the pool. Didnt try the massage or gym as no one about - 6pm on a Thursday . Not a good sleep i am sorry to say as soundof water going down a drain all night =or may have been an air lock in heating -but not in our room.Heating timer needs instructions and i am in that business! Get staff to set it. The girl on reception was very nice and spoke good English - but if paying cash bring change as they seem really to only understand cards! would we stay again ? I would on my own but not with wife as bed not big enough and maybe bring own food / booze and enjoy swim -and at €80 worth a bit more that the sheds -Didn't do breakfast.Easy to find on GPS next to canal on the ring road.parking easy in secure park close to room with electric gates for access so be sure to advise arrival time if late

I have visited this hotel at least 4 times and will probably visit again. However there always seems to be some minor annoyance. On past visits, there has been very late delivery of laundry; sub-normal water temperature in the shower...etc...etc... On this occasion, during my stay, the hotel was hostig a big group of bikers, and this resulted in unacceptablly slow or no service in the bar. They used to have a call button on the bar counter, for use when the barman was absent. Inexplicably they have removed this but on the afternoon in question it would have made no difference. I came into the bar one afternoon for a coffee. The bar was full of customers but there was no barman. When I asked reception to call the barman, they told me that he was busy wiith orders, and that there were also other customers waiting for bar service. I decided to go back to my room and come back in 20 minutes. When I came back, the barman was at the bar serving other customers. I waited patiently for him to serve these other customers, but after he had finished with them, he did a disappearing act, without taking my order !!! Having already waited for service in vain. I deciided it would be easier and quicker to get a coffee from another place in town. In actuallity there is a small bar directly outside the hotel, facing the hotel entrance, which is called "Le Petit Paradis". It is nowhere nearly as well furnished as the hotel bar, but it has outside tables, and the location is good if the weather is OK. More importantly service is much faster than the Mercure Hotel. In addition the drinks are much cheaper. So if you are staying at the Mercure Abbeville and the bar service is slow or unacceptable for any reason, this is an alternative to bear in mind. In fairness, the hotel cannot get everything right all the time. They cannot retain a high staff level, just to deal with the odd days when the hotel has a big group. (Big groups are very good for hotels and restaurants, but usually their presence means that other customers do not get the best service). The hotel has a good location near the town centre. There is limited free parking at the back of the hotel in public bays which are marked in white. Bays marked in blue are free at night and on weekends and holidays. During weekdays parking charges apply to the blue bays, but in practice it appears that French police will not ticket a foreign car that is otherwise correctly parked in close proximity to a hotel. All the available parking is public. There is no private covered parking, as far as I am aware. The hotel breakfast is up to Accor's normal igh standard, although I had difficulty in getting tobasco sauce. Mercure and Novotel usually put tobasco and other sauces on the breakfast buffet. At this hotel I always had to ask for it.
