ザ ダーウェントウォーター ホテル(The Derwentwater Hotel)

We have been to this hotel many times before, unfortunately they do seem to have gone down, possibly due to shortage of staff. Rooms are now not serviced at all during your stay but no one told us. Bins not emptied, tea, coffee etc not refreshed, beds not made. When asked we were told we would need to request it. We did, but it never happened. No phones in the rooms so being on the second floor we were forever walking up and down the stairs looking for tea, milk etc. breakfasts were good, evening meals ok. We did like the view of the lake from our room and the bed was very comfy.

Booked here for 3 nights, ended up checking out early and getting a refund for the last night. The room is not cleaned unless you ask which is not mentioned, we asked for the room to be clean when leaving the hotel at 9am. We arrived back at 2.30pm and the room was not cleaned, we waited awhile incase they were behind but no one came. Called reception and were given another room, the other room was also not cleaned. Were told that the cleaners had left already so there was nothing they could do. The bed was awful both myself and partner woke up with a bad back. Paying for the meal does not include the bar menu, the restaurant food was okay but did not have a great deal of choice.

Had very good stay with staff very happy to help, food was good, but hotel very run down needs revamped in all areas, room very dusty & webs all over, could not fault staff.

This was one Of the nicest budget hotels I’ve stayed in and will be returning for a 3rd visit

Excellent location just on the edge of the lake. Lovely 5-10 min walk through the hotel grounds to the lake - excellent for our dog. Hotel is fine, but tired in places but clean and staff very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was buffet self serve and good. Didn’t eat in restaurant on evening as bus tour group turned up and staff said it would be at least 90min wait.

This is a great place to stay at the top of the Lake District, and the village is much quieter than Keswick. The gentleman at the front desk (from Gower in Wales) was so friendly and helpful and made our stay a pleasure. Wonderful breakfast. Beautiful grounds.

Hotel is in a lovely location, breakfast was great, room was ok clean however the communal areas specifically the stairs really needed a hoover and a deep clean. They were caked in mud and dry grass which looked like it had been there for a long time. Really let this place down.
