Absolutely lovely experience. The food was gorgeous, the staff were welcoming, attentive and friendly. The room was lovely. Will be returning!! The local area is really lovely, the art gallery and deli is worth a visit. Seriously stunning beach!!

Visited here a few years ago was excellent then. Revisited last month not good at all. Dirty bathroom and smelt in the men’s. Food not good at all in the restaurant. The lady cooking the pizzas drinking an energy drink and eating while cooking. Staff rude when I didn’t leave the service charge. Will not be returning again.

This wasn’t the visit we hoped for. Something wasn’t right. My daughter’s meal came out ages before ours although we were told it wouldn’t. So she ate alone. When ours came out mine was luke warm 🥲, my friends calzone was cold inside mozzarella hadn’t melted, vegan burger hugely disappointing, very basic with too few chips, carbonara was bland. Staff were friendly but the 10% service charge automatically added didn’t seem appropriate for a pub with average food and service. I got charged inappropriately for wrong drink. Felt like the chef wasn’t working that night. I’m sure if we went again it might be a better experience but we’ve returned home now. Such a shame!

Bought as a carry out. £23.25 for one fish and chips and a small fish and chips. A bottle of diet coke. Fish was decent size but tasteless and greasy. Chips swimming in grease. Really poor quality and not cheap. I hate piling on to small businesses in these difficult times, but this was very, very poor. To be avoided.

Excellent meal & service. We went in as a family of 12 for the Sunday roast. The food was good, good value, staff friendly & welcoming. There was various options of roast, all looked good. Portion size was very generous. Would highly recommend.

We absolutely loved our stay at The Hope and Anchor we had an amazing welcome from Marcus who was so professional, accommodating, polite, brilliant sense of humour and extremely knowledgeable about the area nothing was to much trouble whatsoever we felt at home at the Hope and Anchor. The service and the food was incredible portion sizes are huge and lovingly prepared by the very talented chefs Our room was spotless the tv control was missing however this was rectified immediately the bed was comfy our pillows where very flat I much prefer a firm pillow but that is personal preference and I did mention it to Tracey the owner but it’s minor and it most certainly wouldn’t stop us from staying again or recommending the Hope and Anchor The pub is very dog friendly which is fab and they have separate dining areas for guests with dogs and our experience of staying with a pub with lots of dogs was a very positive one we heard no barking dogs whatsoever throughout our stay The Deco is very tastefully done and to a very high standard. All in all we loved The Hope and Anchor and will definitely be returning. Stayed for only 1 night, thankfully. It is not a pub, it closes and all lights were off at 9pm The room was nice, but no remote for tv, so don’t expect to watch a bit of telly Shower cubicle furnished with previous guests hairs, nice touch. Dog friendly, so nice to be woken by a dog barking at silly o’clock. No response from owners regarding my issues, I guess they have their money so no issue to them. Stay elsewhere would be my advice

Went for a meal when stopping in Alnmouth. The pizzas were wonderful and the pasta dishes just as good. The service was excellent. Price’s decent. Would recommend. Also having the bonus of being dog friendly.

Absolutely fabulous one night stay at The Hope and Anchor. Such a warm and friendly place to stay especially on a very cold and windy day. Check in was quick and easy. The room was spotless, comfortable and attractive. It was also lovely and warm which was much appreciated. We were aware of the parking issues but were directed to a good place very close by to park. We booked in for food and the meal was really great. I recommend the mussels and fish and chips. Breakfast was good too with plenty of choice.. The beach and cosy pubs are just a few steps away. This was just what we needed after a long journey from Glasgow. Alnmouth is a magical place and The Hope and Anchor made it even more so. Thanks to all the staff who were so welcoming and friendly. We will be back!

To be fair I emailed the hotel as they had asked for feedback before posting this negative reviews to give them a chance to reply but no didn't hear from them so obviously not bothered about providing quality customer service... We stayed in the same room the Sandpiper a few years ago & couldn't fault it. We were able to check in early which we welcomed but this time round however we were quite disappointed. Firstly our room smelt of wet dogs when we walked in even with the windows open. The room itself looked the same to give it credit it is a lovely room. The bathroom had a few faults unfortunately, the toilet cistern when flushed made a very loud noise which went on for a while, the plug surround for shower was rusty & there was a build up of mould & mildew in the corner of the shower too. The toilet was stained in the bottom & toilet roll holder was broken in 2 pieces. Breakfast wasnt good, I left most of it, burnt toast, poor quality sausage & bacon, luke warm beans, greasy mushroom, didn't bother eating their breakfast this morning. However the waitress who served us yesterday was very friendly & attentive. When I paid the balance this morning, the lady didn't ask if we'd enjoyed our stay didn't say anything but ask for our money (lol) What a shame with a few minor alterations it could be a perfect unique place to stay.

We popped in here for a beer. Not realising it was also an Italian restaurant. They had some great local hand pulled ales as well as your usual lagers, wines etc... After chatting with the friendly staff... Marcus booked us for a meal later in the week. The food was outstanding, I had a sirloin steak, it was on a promotional offer, I didnt have any high expectations but, I can honestly say it was the BEST steak I've had in a long time. (We had recently eaten at an expensive Argentinian restaurant in Liverpool, and this beat it hands down!) Really pleasant and friendly staff, who made us feel very welcome. You MUST pay them a visit, and you will NOT be disappointed. An excellent meal. EVERYTHING is cooked fresh, a lovely italian restaurant. If you expect quality, then you will get it here.

Booked for Friday evening with our small dog who was accommodated . The area was clean and had staff cleaning tables after each guest left. We had calamari starter which was lightly battered and Shetland muscles which were gorgeous. We both had fish chips and mushy peas which was equally as good as the starters . Very good portions. All of the staff were friendly. Our server was very attentive and he checked in on us throughout the meal even though it was quite busy. Looking forward to a return visit.

Short break with my wife, Alnmouth is a beautiful village and the Hope and Anchor is a lovely place to stay, our room, Kittiwake, was a very decent size and more than met our expectations, large, comfortable bed and pleasant bathroom. All the staff were extremely friendly and attentive. I would not hesitate to have a return visit and spend more time exploring this beautiful area.

Just dropped in to the Hope & Anchor at Alnmouth and had one of the best meals I can remember. We were lucky to get a table (4 covers) because the restaurant was packed. Great service, superb food - well worth a visit. I'd advise booking ahead though; they get very busy!
