I had not planned a stay at this amazing hotel. I had just picked up the rental car and started driving. When I got tired I hit lodging on my GPS and this was the first place on the list so I went with it. It was not where I would have expected to find a hotel. It was dark and I couldn't see much as I approached. The reception area was simple, the clerk was extremely friendly and the room was very clean and comfortable. I awoke to a visual fantasy of floral and tropical paradise! The privacy for my room (and each other room as well) provided by all the foliage was incredible. The walk ways were swept and led to a beautiful pool that I didn't even know was there! Score! Breakfast was delicious and the staff were very friendly, accommodating and willing to converse - in ENGLISH! They have yoga classes that happen in their gorgeous pavilion several times a week! I was fortunate to be able to experience one of these classes first hand! GREAT way to start my Costa Rica Adventure!

A very quite accomodation with very kind people always smiling and gentle. Very good restaurant with the best chef Mariel. The kindness and smile of Karin let you start the day in a peaceful way as the "Gallo Pinto" made by Letitia let you get the energy you need for all day. William is the friend you should have. The everyday room cleaning let you feel at Home. Thanks Brigitte!

My son is in school not far from Colinas del Sol and we have stayed here several times. It is lovely with beautiful grounds and clean and comfortable rooms. The breakfast is delicious, the staff friendly and it’s a short walk into town for restaurants. I highly recommend it and have stayed here several times and will always stay here!

Cons: The curtains do not provide much privacy and I found the room to be hot. Pros: The room was clean. The employees were helpful and kind. The grounds and the pool were nice. The absolute best thing about the place was Chef Osman at the restaurant. He made us feel special when he cooked wonderful food geared just for us.

We checked in & found that there were 3 beds (wonderful for 3 friends traveling together). The owner & staff took good care of us. The food was good, breakfast variety was good & coffee available. The pool was wonderful, they kept it clean even in the wind. The grounds were a delight in brilliant flowering colors. We relaxed sitting on the porch soaking up the sun. During the mornings there was yoga, in the evenings there was karoke. There was a small kitchen setup to make your own meals.

great staff who work hard to meet your needs as required. Flexible meal arrangements if needed. Food is always good. We will be back again and again. My wife and I have been coming here for several years and have always been satisfied with the staff, service, food and the accommodations. We plan to return in 2016 and into the future as long as I and my wife can travel. .

A very nice hotel and comfortable stay. Hotel is in somewhat of a remote location that is very peaceful. The staff was very nice and helpful. Single bed rooms are equipped differently from the rooms with double beds. Free breakfast. Breakfast was very good. Staff asked what we preferred to have for breakfast. Walls are VERY THIN! Rooms do not offer complete privacy, you can hear everything in the next room! Even if you are just walking by a room you can hear conversations! Air conditioning consists of a ceiling fan. Outside of that it is a very nice hotel.

The location is perfect for the first night after a long flight which arrives late: not too far away from the airport (approx. 30 minutes) but already outside the hustle of the city. The rooms are clean the breakfast good and there is safe parking. Why not 5 points? Because there were dogs barking all night (not too close but with a jetlag annoying)

Arrived in CR after a long flight and booked our first night here before trekking up to La Fortuna the next day. Perfect spot, and not too far from the airport but far enough to get a taster of driving in Costa Rica for the first time. Got a little lost then found our way, and was made to feel very welcome when we reached the hotel. Due to a large party of schoolchildren the kitchen was closed but the staff did offer to make us food but to be honest all we needed was a few beers and an early night. After a good night sleep the breakfast was good, very traditional and off we went to start our adventure. A great way to start the holiday, thank you so much!

We stayed for 3 weeks in Jan as part of an excellent tour. Hotel is basic, but clean, staff very friendly and helpful. The grounds are nice and it is nice and cool at night. Restaurant is fairly good with good prices. Taxi to Atenas is only $2 US

This is a wonderful place. They met our accessibility needs. Rooms were clean, linens were great, coffee machine in room. They helped with our food delivery order. Cynthia , at the desk, was so nice and professional. Good value for the price.

We went there to spend the day at the pool bar and eat. We didn’t know we had to bring our towels thinking it’s an hotel we are paying for the pool they will give us some. We got told no I asked to speak with the manager and he was so rude saying it was for the guest only 😱 They are charging for the pool and we wanted to spend the day there but we went eat and drink elsewhere. I will never go back there

This place is a dump. There was no AC in the room although there was evidence that there used to be one. To make matters worse, the ceiling fan didn’t work … there was actually a cover plate where the switch should have been. The shower didn’t drain. The sink leaked. The patio screens between units are half missing. The grounds are a mess. Sure hope the breakfast is edible. Can’t wait to leave.

Hotel Colinas Del Sol is rated as a 3-star hotel, so my review is with that expectation. The various English-speaking staff we met (Cynthia, Tracy, Rudolfo, and others) were wonderful. Tracy especially as she helped me get my wife's phone from the taxi company when it was accidently left in it. The room was fine, and while the AC was a bit less powerful than I expected, it was perfectly adequate for the villa size. The resort itself is quant, but outdated. We met the family owners, and appreciated their hard work in maintaining the family business. We walked to the center of town daily and took a taxi to the Farmer's market. Other reviews have complained about the outside animal noises, but for the most part, it was peaceful for us. One specific note: Some menu items had no detail, but the cooking staff did their best to dress the food up. i.e. mushroom sauce on the filet mignon, “nachos” had additional condiments such as ketchup and mustard. If you have restrictions, be specific. Definitely a place we would recommend and return to.

We checked in to room 11, at the end of the upper unit. After fiddling around for 10 minutes trying to make the ceiling fan work I took the remote to the front desk. New batteries did the trick, but even on high, the fan was useless, barely rotating at all. We showered b4 going out and found the shower drain to be dreadfully slow. How can any housekeeper clean a shower and not recognize such a problem. We came home later than expected, arriving close to midnight, and found the front gate locked. We used the intercom for 15 minutes trying get someone to answer and thankfully the door just opened. At about 1 a.m. people in the next room came home; we could every word spoken (for next hour). So in short, poorly maintained room with useless ceiling fan and paper thin walls. Oh, and no warm water for our morning showers. I gave it 2 stars and instead of one because the breakfast was simple but very nice and the breakfast staff and front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Still have no idea how we gained entry thru the gate and would not return.
