It is si wonderful & Nice place...is perfect to spend tour vacations...

I have to be honest and say I was NOT expecting an apartment-type room. That was a little disappoining at first, realizing that there was no restaurant on site and all our meals had to be outside (there was no way we were going to cook, to be honest). Having said that, turns out it was not bad at all! There are a lot of places nearby where you can eat, from nice upscale kinda food to super cheap street stalls. The hotel is super well located, the rooms are huge and super comfortable with great views of the lagoon. But I think the best part of all was, by far, the staff! They went far and beyond to help us in everything we needed, even weeks before our arrival. I have no words to say how thankful we were for everything they did, always ready to help us, to guide us and to solve our issues. Always with a smile and always available. The hotel itself was clean and well maintained. And I would absolutely stay here again!! Recommend it 100%!

We had a really nice view of the lake. Staff was attentive and site security was good. Rooms look nice but need updates. We lacked hot water and the internet service wi-fi was nonexistent (even after requesting a fix). The hotel was not quiet for a number of reasons, often waking us at night.

I stayed here for 1 night as part of an organised tour, we were at this hotel for less than 12 hours so maybe take this review with a pinch of salt. It's located not far from the centre, with a lovely view of the lake. What I ended up getting was a 1 bedroom apartment. The bedroom was a good size with a comfortable king bed. The rest of the apartment was huge, the kitchen and living area were extremely spacious, not that I spent much time there. There was also a patio with a lake view, from which the pool and bar was only a short walk. The bathroom was a slight let down, it was pretty but it seemed that they'd gone for aesthetics over functionality. There was enough surface area for toiletries, but the sink had a tap which was waterfall style which if you put the water on too powerful it would spill everywhere. There were also 2 knobs for hot and cold water (though they came out of the same place) and the hot water was scolding. There was no bath tub but the shower was quite large, the water pressure wasn't fantastic but it was workable. We had breakfast which was served outside at the pool bar. It was served to us rather than it being a buffet, and the offerings were quite slim. We were brought a plate of fruit with yoghurt and granola, and there was toast with butter and jam on the table. There was coffee, tea, juice, and water. There were eggs available but they cost extra. Overall it was a pleasant enough short stay, the breakfast was a bit of a let down but otherwise ok.

I've stayed here twice now and love it. While they have to manually open the entrance door and car gate there is hardly a delay. It is safe and secure. Will be returning. I just hope they don't replace any more refrigerators with the smaller ones. I prefer the large ones to make ice for my water containers.

Quite, great view off the balcony, sliding glasd doors all open. The staff was super friendly and helpful.

Perfect location. We could easily walk to the gorgeous lake with waterfront restaurants or the center of town with all the restaurants and shops. Plus we had a little view of the lake. Staff was very nice. Rooms were spacious. Faded beauty but good price. Restaurant is only open for breakfast sometimes but there’s a good breakfast cafe a block away. They keep the front gate locked and we felt perfectly safe.

We enjoyed our stay at Villas Bakalar. The location is good and an easy walk to restaurants and the lagoon. The rooms could use a little bit of a refurb. Although there is a small kitchen don't plan on cooking much. There is very little in the way of pots/pans/utensils. Both the electricity and water went out for a whole day and didn't come back on until 8pm, which was a bit of a nuisance, but the hotel did offer us breakfast as a recompense which was nice. This is listed as a 5 star hotel, but it's definitely not, so don't get your hopes up.

The cleaning crew and host very friendly, lots of space, everything needed and a great view of Bacalar lagoon, only a block away.
