Domaine de Bayeux

This hotel and its team provides a perfect balance of experiencing 18th century charm and elegance with modern amenities such as the large modern and chic bathrooms. Due to a change of plans we spent our first night in one of the two new wings set in the fabulous gardens. The rooms are modern, spacious and functional, including a/c and a mini fridge. In my view perfect for short stays. However, the following seven nights we stayed in their premium ‘Omaha’ suite with three very large rooms, including a gorgeous new bathroom with seperate bath and large shower plus twin his/hers sinks. The main bedroom has a King bed, TV and there is a seperate sitting room. French doors from the bedroom lead to a large private balcony with furniture and a perfect spot for a morning coffee or afternoon drinks overlooking the gorgeous park like gardens. Note there is no a/c, nor a mini fridge, so this may not be ideal in summer. The staff are excellent, friendly and professional also helping with great suggestions and bookings. An easy five minute walk to central Bayeux this is a perfect place to base yourself for a short or long stay. Thanks Team!

Our family stayed in two rooms in the Orchard area and we were very pleased. The rooms are large and appeared to be fairly new and modern. The setting on the back porch was beautiful and is a pleasant way to spend relaxing time. There is a nice hike next to a stream nearby. The breakfast was delicious. We planned to eat at French bakeries, but we liked the hotel breakfast so much that we ate there all three days. We highly recommend the Domaine de Bayeux.

One of our favorite stays while in France. Great location. Beautiful hotel. Great front desk staff, Nelson stands out for going above and beyond, such a keeper ! and James was very good too. Only one small matter : breakfast lady was just plain rude (no hello, screaming from the kitchen). Not a nice way to start your day. We anyway had a great time ! We love Bayeux!

Hotel is an easy 2-block walk from the train station (important when you have luggage in tow) and then another 4-5 blocks to lots of shops and restaurants in the main town center. Our rooms were in the relatively new Orchard building and we found them spacious, very comfortable, and spotless. If you are planning to head out for any of the numerous 8/8:30 a.m. day tours of the area, we highly recommend adding the breakfast option to your room. Nice spread of typical breakfast fare and very convenient.

We had a wonderful stay at DDB. The location is terrific; short walk to the train station and ~10 minutes to the town center. The hotel itself is beautiful. The grounds are magnificent. There is an apple tree with apples that had fallen and are edible. We stayed in the new building. The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. We did have a couple issues with room 22 where my elderly parents stayed. The wifi did not work at all in that room and it had a noticeable rotten smell (perhaps sewer or a dead animal somewhere?) We brought both issues to the attention of the staff but were told the wifi was a known issue and nothing could be done. This was problematic as there was also virtually no cellular service in that location. The guests in the neighboring rooms reported the same wifi issues. If you need wifi for work, research of restaurants or for any other reason, I suggest avoiding the "lower" new building. The main building a "upper" new building had strong wifi. The staff reported a plan to correct this issue during the off season. With respect to the rotten smell, the room was cleaned again but the smell returned. I had a very pleasant chat with the owner one morning. She and her husband purchase the hotel earlier this year. She was engaging and discussed various improvements they intend to make to the property. Overall, I would highly recommend this property. Just beware of the lack of wifi in one of the three buildings until it's fixed! :)

We had a great stay at Domaine de Bayeux. We were a family of four and the room worked great with two pull out beds. The grounds were beautiful. The kids enjoyed picking apples for snacks. We enjoyed a cocktail on the terrace. They were incredibly helpful with directions and booking dinner reservations for us.
