I was somewhat dumbfounded when pulling up to attempt to check in. As I was approaching the reception door, a gentleman came out from a different door to the side, approached us and asked “You don’t want to check in, do you?”. When I replied yes, it seemed as though it was a great effort for him to unlock the office to proceed with the check in process. We were given our keys and pointed in the direction on the two rooms I had booked for the night. As soon as I entered the room, I immediately started regretting our choice of accommodation. The curtains had green/yellow stains on them, cigarette holes in the bed coverings, sticky TV remote, carpet coming up, big rips in the couch, long hair all within the bed and the biggest one being the fire detector being taped up so would be useless if there was a fire. Contacted the guy that checked us in to inform him of the fire detector and bed. He was somewhat hesitant to believe me at first until I raised the legality side of things. Within 5 minutes the detector was un-taped and the bedsheets charged. I was still somewhat skeptical that the detector was fully operational after that - even though he made it beep, the LED lights that are usually on detectors weren’t lit up, and these things looked well past their legal life span. Personally I wouldn’t recommend anyone staying there until it had a decent clean & replacement of furnishings. Definitely wouldn’t return.
