Stayed a few hours and we were so ready to bail. Don't expect to feel welcomed; service is poor and amenities below average. We had to ring a doorbell to get in, then told to wait outside in the rain, while waiting to be let in. The room felt like an oven, and was very basic. We honestly didn't dare to even nap on the bed. If you have heavy luggage, watch out for the steep and uneven stairs because they're a safety hazard! Our check-out time was at 2.30p and the guy who was in charge, was like a broken record, reminding my husband at 2.25, 2.27 that we had to check-out soon. Location is central but honestly, not worth consideration unless you're absolutely desperate.
The Griffin Belle Hotel is the perfect place to stay if you need to visit the US Embassy for a visa. The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean. The food was delicious, I had fish and chips, and the inclusive breakfast was great. The staff, Lauren, Cass and Vlad were extremely helpful and welcoming. I would recommend this hotel to anyone needing to stay in the Vauxhall district.
I don’t usually complain about hotels but this was a very stressful unnecessary experience and it didn’t me any good at all. I’d booked to go to the London book fair and needed somewhere last minute and cheap but not disastrous so thought this hotel would suffice. After travelling from the south west to London which took a long time, I was tired and after attending the book fair in the afternoon, all I wanted was my bed ! Check in was fine and my key card worked to begin with but on return from the book fair, my key card wouldn’t open my room and I had to climb up and down flights of stairs to get some help from reception. The receptionist did reactivate my card but it didn’t work so he had to come with me to sort it out and then tried to blame me for closing my door too tightly. I was like what on earth? This isn’t good enough. Eventually they fixed the door but didn’t give me a new card and told me to collect in the morning. I was fine with that as I was too tired to argue. Anyway today I returned to get my new key card and that was difficult as they said how did you get in and I explained the situation and said please no more stress. They gave me a new key card and I tried it and it worked fine. I really didn’t appreciate the inappropriate remarks about me being a woman on her own or stuff like that. All I wanted was a reasonable place to put my head down and no hassle. It wasn’t the case. I know things are tight at present but I work hard for a living and don’t appreciate not being able to get into my hotel room!! Furthermore on the last night somebody tried to get into my hotel room so I hardly slept, it wasn’t good. On top of that, television didn’t work and neither did the wifi. Not very helpful. Please consider carefully if you want to stay here. Not the greatest location and booking com rates it as a three star not a two so very misleading. Not a nice stay!!!!!
