Old world character, helpful staff, fresh bananas every morning, one block from the water, restaurants in walking distance

Fine property in the nicest part of Belize City- around the hotel felt safe. Very friendly and helpful staff, colonial style old fashioned rooms with decent beds and clean bathrooms. Pool is new and nice (looks like a restaurant is also being built). Not a ton of dining in the city but a couple good options close by. Decent value for price. It’s nicer and better located than the cheaper Ramada, and a touch under the price and amenities and qualities of the Raddison next door- a nice middle ground. Bring earplugs for the Belize City dogs and birds at night and early morning.

We stayed 2 nights before heading to the islands. The Great House was clean and charming with great character. Loved all the wraparound porches. Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Close to the water and easy walk to the water taxi.

Reminded me of a bed and breakfast style venue which was nice. The only thing that bothered me was hearing people up and down the stairs and talking outside my room since the windows just have shutters and there were tables and chairs outside my window on the porch.

Hotel was good overall. Nice & helpful front desk. Breakfast is okay nothing fancy. Rooms are clean. Has AC and they bring iron when needed. Also has a safe inside room. Hotel location is great, couple of minutes to the ocean, and about 10 minutes walk to center of Belize city. Proximity to restaurants and lounges. The bad thing is that the area itself is very sketchy. Not really for tourism a side from few nice hotels and restaurants. Area is dirty and at night becomes dangerous. We are advised not to walk at night. A seemingly homeless person harrased. Thankfully nothing bad happened but we did not feel safe. In my opinion use your time in Belize city to transport to excursions and nice islands but not spend time in city.

Nice place, everything was good, room was clean, a little dated, but great location, staff was great and friendly. No restaurant or breakfast, small pool. We went across street to the Radisson for breakfast. The Radisson was very run down, happy we stayed for less money at the Great House!

The hotel is lovely and very unique. Much more charming than a typical chain hotel. Although the shower drain was clogged and our fire alarm started beeping in the middle of the night. There were also logs of neighborhood dogs that barked consistently, but nothing some white noise couldn't help. The staff was friendly.

I stayed for 2 nights at The Great House Inn and had a lovely time. Great staff who were very helpful. My room was large and comfortable and very clean. Convenient for downtown and for cruise port. No complaints at all.

We have stayed at this property several times for pleasure and business, and always know what to expect. Always clean, and the staff is great…. Keep up the good work!
