This hotel was amazing. We loved everything about it. The room was great, the breakfast outstanding and the location was perfect. It is located at the top of a steep street and feels a bit isolated at first. But once inside every view was beautiful and our three level room had everything we could possible need or want. Be sure to make sure you are not reserving this room if you have trouble with stairs. There are other lovely choices.

Excellent stay, super quiet, very good breakfast, comfortable bed and pillows, nice staff, great view from room. The road up to the hotel is a bit scary, not very wide and some parts without a guardrail. The good thing is that we drove with daylight.

This was probably the best hotel and food of our road trip to the algarve and back. Room spacious, clean and wonderful view. Hotel a delight of corners in a historic building. Restaurant superb, best meal of the trip. pleasant staff and I certainly would love to return for longer. location location location.

We stayed in 8 different hotels on our Portugal trip and this was the best. We stayed in the suite Frei Pedro. Worth the extra $. Beautiful location, view, room. Our patio 30x30 ft. Room 20x20. Service and food top notch. Hiking trails around property.

Accommodation in a converted monastery - what a wonderful and atmospheric stay. It's quiet, secluded and well away from hustle and bustle. Decor is in keeping with the ambiance, with many comfortable corners to relax and soak in the serenity. Parking is ample. Rooms are comfortable and spacious, with balcony overlooking the beautiful valley. A slice of peace and tranquility. The fresh pool offered a welcome cool-down after exploring the quaint, picturesque town. We had supper at the restaurant one night and it was outstanding. Truly delectable and beautifully presented. We wished we'd done that on both nights of our stay! The entire property has a special charm and the feeling of space, peace and quiet pervades this special place.

This was our second stay in this hotel. It was a secluded (of course) former convent and it still includes the chapel and the cloister, now common spaces for the guests. Quite nice!! Every room is named after an hypothetical fryer. ‘Frei Zacarias’ was a very spacious room (large lobby, bathroom and bedroom, with a balcony over the valley) which accommodated an extra bed easily. It was a bit dusty at first but, per our request, the staff took out the rugs and vacuumed. The staff is super nice and helpful - always willing to do their best with a smile! The pool bar didn’t seem to be open in the afternoon and we had to get the towels at the hotel reception (not very convenient). The pool was fine and the cold water didn’t bother us much after a whole day exploring the region under the sun. In my opinion, dinner takes too long, especially for a family with young kids. Even if we tried asking for very uncomplicated dishes, it would still take around two hours with all the preparations and waiting for the food… It feels the rooms could use a little update/refurbishment to replace a few items and such.
