The hotel is in a beautiful old historic building and is in a very nice location. There is parking available directly outside the hotel which is very useful. There is so much potential for this property to be a fantastic hotel, however sadly it's management/owners are clearly not interested and are unwilling to put in the care or effort required to make it better We checked in at 9PM and being very hungry after a long drive, went straight to the hotel bar/restaurant however were told the only thing we could still order was soup. I can understand this is not a city hotel, however not having the option to order any proper food beyond 9PM seems a bit ridiculous to me, especially at a hotel that is charging £160 a night. I ordered a pint of ale at the bar which also didn't taste great at all. This was obviously not an ideal start to our stay... Throughout our three night stay, the WIFI did not function at all in our room- again this is just not good enough in this day and age and when you are paying such high rates. In the mornings, the breakfast staff seemed moody and any small request appeared to be frowned upon. The quality of the buffet was incredibly basic- you could tell that everything they provided (aside from the nice Bon Maman jams) were the cheapest possible things they could get their hands on. The cooked breakfast was very average and one could tell had not been prepared with any proper care. This was such a shame, as the room in which the breakfast is served is a wonderful, atmospheric old hall- again, so much potential! I must add that on our third and final morning, there were different staff working who were more friendly. Our room seemed quite run down and dusty and definitely in need of a small makeover. There was no fridge, bottled water, shower gel, hand soap provided- again just nowhere near good enough for the price paid
