From the moment we drove onto the property, we were smitten with the beauty of the gardens at L'Auberge. This slice of France in the middle of Northern Virginia's wine country was a gift we didn't expect. Emily welcomed us as if we were longtime friends and kindly announced our room #8 Mistral was ready. The lovely space was elegantly decorated and had everything we needed, including a mini refrigerator, coffee maker, and wine opener ;-) The plush bedding and linens we an added treat. As we strolled the grounds, we were reminded of our time in Marseilles. Colorful flowers and herbs dot the landscape at every turn; apple trees line the expansive lawn; and the vegetable garden is a treat to traipse through. We had a chance to chat with Trenton about the detail that goes into maintaining the property, which was quite impressive. It's no wonder L'auberge has won several "best of" culinary awards because the food is exceptional. Our dinner selections included the wood-fired pizza and the mussels. For breakfast, we enjoyed French toast and spinach quiche. Grace, our server was a pleasure each day. With an extensive wine list and full bar, you could remain on property for days and indulge in the food and drink while relaxing in luxury. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Alain, who was a joy to chat with. He was welcoming and warm with his insights into local history and happenings. With this first-time remarkable experience, we are certain we will return to L'auberge Provençal soon.
