Chill Backpackers is not a hostel but a shelter for homeless people. At the check-in, we were told that our booking supports a shelter for people who are struggling with their lives. This facility should be next to the hostel in a separate building. After a few hours, we realized that the hostel was also full of homeless, live-struggling people. At night we were awakened by screams from the neighbouring room, we did not dare to go to the hallway and felt unsafe in our room. In addition, cigarette-fumed air came through the ventilation shafts, which made sleeping additionally more difficult, opening the window was not possible. When we complained after this night about the screaming and the smell of smoke in our room, this was pushed to the shelter next door, and we were assured that the neighbouring room ere also accommodated tourists. Early check out only without refund. The nightly scenario repeated itself, and the stay in the hostel became more and more terrible. In addition, it stank miserably in the hallways, in the room, you could not open the window, and there was no fresh air. In the kitchen, hardly any pots, plates, etc. were washed, glad to have our own cutlery.
