Premier Inn Bristol City Centre (Finzels Reach)

The location is good and convenience.

Best hotel I have stayed in so far The food was amazing, the room was clean and comfy and the customer service was 10/10. There was one staff member who stood out amongst the rest and always went above and beyond to help me,thank you sammy. On my arrival Sammy checked me into the hotel and it was service with a smile. I forgot my lighter so Sammy let me borrow hers and the next day she brought in a spare one for me! Throughout the whole stay the customer service provided by all staff was amazing but Sammy by far was my favourite staff member!

Welcoming. Clean and very comfortable. Staff very friendly and helpful. Great choice of breakfast foods and staff very attentive to vegetarian requirement, again staff helpful and welcoming. Trouble free check in/out. Room and bed very clean and comfortable including pillows for a restful night that we both had. Would definitely recommend and also would stay again in the future.

There were so many things wrong with this place. Cost: over £100 per night for a Premier Inn booked two months in advance. Really?! Car parking: pretends there's car parking when I selected it (for that specific reason as I was driving to Bristol and wasn't familiar with the city). You arrive and its clear there isn't an adjacent car park. Parked illegally outside for 2 mins while I ran in to ask. Was told there was a concession on a car park. They gave me the postcode for the car park!! Turns out it's a good half mile across the city centre, and the concession meant I still paid £40 for two days parking. Reception: hardly ever manned Room cleaning: has to be specifically requested Lifts: this is an 8 storey hotel with 2 lifts. One was permanently out of use. The other was, on most occasions i needed it, locked down for staff use, or was being used as a service lift to deliver beds. Breakfast booking: tried to book breakfast the day before when it was nice and quiet. Member of staff said to just come down on the morning and book it then. Of course the next morning, there was nobody available to sort that booking out because it was busy. After being passed by about 10 people while I waited, I got fed up waiting, walked through and had breakfast anyway. Inevitably there was nobody around to take a breakfast order after the fact. Breakfast quality: the single worst fried breakfast I've had in a UK hotel. Half the ingredients had run out and the chef didn't seem in a hurry to replenish. The baked beans were the lowest quality abomination you can imagine. Will never stay here again. Terrible!

You know what you are getting at Premier Inn. My room was clean and had all I needed for a bit of work and a good night’s sleep. Staff were friendly and got me an iron when I needed it for my work shirt. It’s a 5 minutes walk to the main city centre so a good location.

We called 6 times on the drive up to request a lower ground floor - phone never answered, despite being on hold for ages. We eventually got through to main PI number and they assured us they would message the hotel. We later found out they hadn't; had the hotel been more busy they wouldn't have been able to accomodate changing us from floor 4 to floor 1. When we got there, I pulled over and my wife went it to check on blue badge parking, she was told where it was and we drove round and waited for over five minutes - the barrier remained closed, the call button ignored. My wife (who is fully able, thankfully) was able to get out and walk round to the front of the hotel to get assistance. In the end, someone else let us in. Had I been on my own, I wouldn't have been able to fetch assistance without help. I was also a bit put off by how dirty all the carpets were in communal areas and in our room. Positives: the location for us was excellent, there was eventually blue badge parking, staff were friendly when you spoke to them.

As expected from Premier Inn hotels we had a great night sleep! Room (3rd floor) was quiet, clean and functional. We didn’t have breakfast here so cannot comment. Convenient location: 5-10min walk from train station and another 5-10min walk from shops. Was able to leave luggage (secured room) before going back to get our train. A few lovely bars/restaurant in the street going to the canal towards castle bridge and a really nice coffee shop just at the corner (Spicer & Cole) with excellent coffee and treats. Really warm and efficient welcome from Sammy at the reception too - thank you!

If you need somewhere simple, that you know will work as expected, this Premier Inn is great. We used it for a night's rest after a long flight and were very happy with the room and service provided by the staff. Sammy was excellent at getting us a room for an early check in!

Generally our rooms were clean and provided everything we needed. We had problems with both check in and checkout, every time we needed to interact with staff they didn’t provide a good level of service. On checkin it states you can check in your room at 3, and in some cases if they have rooms available you can check in as early as 11. When me and all my friends turned up a little before 3 I was told my room might be an hours wait to be ready, I would need to wait. After waiting 30 mins in the bar area we asked again as we had plans for the afternoon and needed to get ready, the staff weren’t very receptive but we finally got our room. Some of my other friends waited another 45 mins to get their room, with no compensation for the wait, just being asked to hang around in reception and no apologise for this. On the morning we were meant to be checking out, we checked that checkout was at 12 and headed out for the morning, leaving bags in rooms so we didn’t need to drag these around with us. We returned to the hotel at 11:30 to find none of our key cards worked for our rooms, requiring us to go back to reception, to which they tried to say it was our fault and that the key cards automatically get deactivated, to which we asked why they had been deactivated before 12 if checkout is 12, they couldn’t answer. It took some of us two trips to reception or sweet talking the cleaners to get into our rooms and grab our bags just to leave.
