For a hotel that’s just joined Doubletree, I was slightly disappointed by my stay. The reception area and lobby are beautiful, really nice use of plants and a truly welcoming space. Staff member who greeted me was very friendly. I booked a King Superior Room with a sea view, but I fail to see what was superior about it. For a recently renovated hotel, why not provide a coffee machine? It felt like everything is being done on a budget, I was on a solo stay but I was provided 2 pillows and 2 towels for my king room! There’s also a complete lack of any soft furnishings in the room, such as cushions. It’s all very static and unwelcoming. Even the balcony has cheap furnishings on with cheap plastic, uncomfortable chairs. The bathroom doesn’t make sense…. Walk in shower but there isn’t a hook or space to put towels when you get out, so you have to walk wet across the whole bathroom. I got 2 bottles of water in my room with my Hilton Gold, but they weren’t replenished on my 2 night stay. Breakfast was nice, with lots of choice. I ate one evening in Carvv steakhouse, which is part of the hotel. Had a really nice meal here. 400g sirloin, cooked perfectly and really friendly service. On check out there was no enquiry as to how my stay was. How is a new hotel going to iron out problems if they aren’t asking guests?!? There also seems to be a problem with their payment devices. Wouldn’t accept 2 of my cards on check in and same hassle on check out… definitely not my cards, so allow extra time to check in/out. The rooms have an issue with air con and you can’t get it to the desired temperature you want. Mine wouldn’t go below 25 which was unbearable when sunshine was on it late evening. Nice properly but far too many teething problems. Would not recommend and will definitely not return.
