What a fabulous old fashioned hotel. I can't remember thè last time I needed to insert an actual key into my door in a hotel. Great room, great housekeeping, fabulous breakfast, good pool and a fabulous location. But please don't tell anyone.

Excellent breakfast, very friendly staff, our room was cleaned and beds made daily. Lovely pool.

Mixed feelings as loved this hotel Needs modernisation to reflect increasing prices and decreasing standards of accommodation. Apartment cleaning staff can be rather miserable and could be more friendly with a smile. Lovely breakfast staff and food.

Fantastic Hotel....staff excellent...rooms just superb....all staff keep this Hotel in top order....pool and spa bath just lovely....the decor of the Hotel is just exceptional,the Staff take pride in everything......we have a room with a view......lift to all floors ....lovely sitting areas......car parking available at only 8 euros a day.....the lovely centre just a 10 min walk away.....the breakfast is just something else....5 star....as much as you can eat ....again wonderful staff.....This Hotel should be a 5 star.....it’s a hidden gem......hope it stays like it......will come again.....WiFi very good.....🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗ps the gardens are so well kept and lovely lights at night

My husband & I have just enjoyed a one night stay at this hotel & would thoroughly recommend it to anyone. It was exceptional value . It has a great location a few minutes walk from the centre of the resort with its many bars & restaurants. The hotel is a little dated but is very clean & comfortable with a spacious bedroom. The attractive pool area was also spacious . The breakfast buffet was plentiful & of a high quality & all the staff were efficient & friendly .

This is a good option for Calella - an easy walk into the centre. The hotel reception is real vintage retro style - like something out of the set of ‘Mad Men’. Room was spacious and immaculately clean, we had a decent size roof terrace. Shower had good water pressure too. Breakfast selection was one of the best I’ve seen in equivalent starred hotels. Fresh and excellent variety. Parking is 10 euros per day, worth doing when resort is busy.

I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Hotel Portbo.

The best part of this hotel is the breakfast. This is not the typical hotel continental. They have eggs made to order, pastries, fresh baked breads, all the fruits, sautéed vegetables, local fish. I’ve never had better and the service was fantastic! The hotel was nicely located for the beach and the bus. We were absolutely charmed by Costa Brava! We rented bikes in Palafugell and spent a whole day exploring. We hiked the costal trail from Begur back to Calella. Unbelievable beauty!!
