シャトー・ド・カンデアート・エ・スパ(Le Chateau de Candes, sa Tour et Ses Suites.)

Nous avions l’appartement Vienne qui est grand et tout équipé. Tous les logements sont refaits à neuf en 2022-23 avec une belle décoration. En face du château, la terrasse donne un paysage à couper le souffle sur la confluence de la Loire et de la Vienne avec en contrebas le monastère. Candes Saint Martin, élus plus beaux villages de France, et le village de Montsoreau sont à visiter à pieds de l’hôtel. Nous avons passé une grosse partie de notre journée dans la zone piscine et jardin privée accessible à 50 mètres. Un petit trampoline pour enfant y est installé. Nous avons dîné sur place et c’était une cuisine simple avec une belle carte des vins de la région. Il y a aussi un resto à 5 minutes à pied. Bien que l’ambiance générale soit plutôt calme et pour adulte, nos enfants 6 ans et 8 ans ont été très bien accueillis. Le couple hôte Bertrand et Sam ainsi que Jeanne sont disponibles et très accueillants et n’oublie jamais de prendre le temps d’un petit échange à chaque conversation. On s’est senti comme en famille et c’est assez rare pour le souligner. Une adresse qu’on souhaite garder rien que nous… merci pour ce moment précieux.

My friends and I had a wonderful stay at Le Chateau de Candes. The accommodations were beautiful and updated and the grounds were stunning. We stayed in the ‘Maison Katcha’ which was very spacious, and had a great kitchen and amazing views. Sam and Bertrand were amazing, welcoming hosts. This was the perfect location for doing a bit of exploration of the Loire but also just relaxing and enjoying the beautiful scenery.

Tout était parfait, un grand merci a Bertrand et sa femme, toujours disponible et vraiment sympathique. Le petit déjeuner copieux et raffiné, le confort, les piscines, le panorama, et l'emplacement idéal pour visiter la région. Nous y retournerons, c'est une certitude.

We had the most amazing time at the Chateau de Candes. Bertrand and Sam are wonderful hosts. They went above and beyond to ensure our stay will be a pleasant stay. They are full of surprises and they are beautiful people. They are very interesting and always keen of sharing their personal experience. The chateau is spotless, very clean and beautifully decorated. The Spa area is a delight. The view on the village and the Loire river is a real treasure. The location is perfect. Breakfast was delicious and included fresh pastries. Everything was a delight. I recommend a 100%

11 of us rented this chateau for four nights and it was amazing! We had access to the entire chateau and the spa. The Art in the park was very unique and interesting, as were the hosts of the Chateau, Bertrand and Sam Pignet. They are gracious hosts/managers and helped us with all of our needs. There are many wonderful surprises within the grounds.

An absolutely delightful spot! We stayed 4 nights in the Chateau with 8 friends. Our hosts were charming and always wanting to please. We had a busy schedule, so we were not able to enjoy all of the amenities - spa, pools, sauna. But, we intend to return to do so. Breakfasts were terrific.

Chateau de Candes is a special gem tucked away on the hillside. We stayed in the main villa with a group of 10 couples. Bertrand was attentive to all of our needs pre arrival, while we were visiting and helping us with transportation upon departure. The property is breathtaking with beautiful views of the river. The pool area is so private and relaxing. Highly recommend if you are looking for a quiet getaway.

We stayed 4 nights during August 2023 – as a family of four, including two young children. The two-bedroom loft apar**ent was very spacious and well-equipped to allow self-catering, however the ‘open plan’ layout meant there was limited privacy (for example, when putting children to bed). The hotel is somewhere between a B&B and a hotel. It’s an excellent location with stunning views over the Loire. Our children really liked the swimming pool, which was well-heated, and we enjoyed the sauna. We used the hotel as base for exploring local chateaux (the ‘Sleeping Beauty’ castle at Ussé was our favourite), for visiting local towns, and for doing activities, such as kayaking on the river at Chinon. We had breakfast on the first day, but it felt over-priced given the limited appetites of our young children, so we self-catered on other days with food from the supermarket (the SuperU at Chinon most convenient) or the bakery just down the road at Montsoreau. There was one issue at the hotel, which really marred our experience. It’s not necessarily the hotel’s fault but we feel it’s necessary to mention. Our children were both badly bitten by bed bugs. At first, we thought they might be mosquito bites, but on further investigation we determined they were bed bug bites. We told the hotel after our stay and they were very apologetic and said they would fumigate the beds, but I think this experience would deter us from staying at the hotel again. Still, we had a fun time exploring the Loire. One thing to avoid – the local pizza van, which served us terrible, undercooked pizzas!
