First time in India, so Goa was an obvious choice, as we had missed out due to the COVID 19 pandemic having booked in 2020 , we decided to rebook at the Whispering Palms, it was our good fortune that we did, it was an excellent choice. Its a relatively small hotel in comparison to others in the area, and located just a short walk from the beach at Candolim, which is excellent. On arrival we walked straight in to a party around the pool (it was New Years Eve when we arrived), so our first evening set the trend for the next two weeks. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and to the higher end in terms of luxury; for India at least, they are clean and well maintained with staff always on hand to assist if you require anything. The Food is exceptional, although my only criticism of the food would be that there appeared to be more non-meat curries than meat curries. That said, the team were always willing to make a dish to a specific request i.e., non curry if that was preferred. You really can't argue with that. The dining areas are OK, maybe a bit tired, but that should not be considered as a negative, as the quality of the food vastly outweighs the surroundings. The only other possibly negative comment was in relation to the drinks, disappointing that there was no draught beer, and with only bottled Kingfisher or Tuborg available, the options were somewhat limited. Everything else was fine though. The pool area is good, and more importantly; clean, there are usually plenty of sunbeds and the pool staff are always on hand to help move sunbeds around and provide towels etc. There is entertainment (Indian Style) most nights, with bar staff always around to provide drinks. One thing I've left to the end is the staff, from top to bottom, manager to cleaners, all were absolutely exceptional and to a man/woman, they couldn't do enough to make our holiday special. Fantastic holiday in a great hotel.
