What a find !! loved this boutique style hotel. Great location great service amazing breakfast, beautifully decorated with very generous sized rooms and friendly staff. Will definitely be back.

This is an oasis of calm . From the moment we were greeted by Lulu at reception we felt like it was a home away from home . Micheal looked after us in the dock house during breakfast for two days and was amazing 10/10 his paw print Capoccino was fabulous and his attention to customer satisfaction was clear to see. Ashley looked after us on our last morning and was a delight. His flower displays and passion was fantastic . The gentleman at the front doors greeted us and helped with our luggage, I'm sorry I didn't get his name but he was also outstanding. We also had an amazing couple massage in the spa it was so relaxing and very reasonably priced. Thank you girls . Overall this is a must stay part of any planned trip to the wonderful Cape town. We were originally booked to stay here when we visited Cape Town, however we were told they had over booked, so we were shifted to another hotel across the courtyard. Due to plumbing issues in our room at that hotel we were then shifted to The Dock House, which happened quite late at night. Unfortunately this meant we didn’t get the full experience of the hotel, as we checked out early the next morning. Our room was large, spacious and clean. The heating worked well as it was a very cold night. The breakfast the following morning was lovely and the staff were very attentive. We would book again, with the hope of being able to use more of the facilities offered.

This is a very charming hotel, in a wonderful location, very close to The Waterfront. The rooms are big and beautifully decorated, extremely confortable. The service is very kind and accommodating. All in all, an excellent choice in Cape Town!

We arrived early as our flight landed at 7am , this is a busy time on the road into Cape Town. On arriving at the Hotel ( you use the reception of the Queen Victoria which is next door) every member of staff is friendly and beyond helpful , never over bearing.( we did have to wait for our room but our luggage was stored we were offered breakfast and we got to relax on sun beds by the pool. The Dock House is a heritage building and has the most lovely garden, pool and outside lounging area . It’s surrounded by tall hedging and this gives it a ‘secret garden’ feel when the wonderful V&A Waterfront is just down the steps ( you can hear the buskers , which is very pleasant) Our room was so well appointed ( we didn’t want the front ) so our room (6) was perfect! Excellent shower,bath , super comfortable bed. Breakfast you have the choice to eat where you want including the lovely breakfast room in Dockhouse, perfect eggs Benedict!! The manager of Dockhouse is so friendly and helpful, actually every member of staff was amazing!!! I would absolutely recommend staying here, you really get to experience the best CapeTown has to offer.

This is a Victorian colonial building that has been turned into a small boutique hotel and it’s gorgeous The rooms are excellent and they nance a great spa and gym The pool area is small but perfectly formed and a tranquil area with the buskers music floating in over the hedgerows where Clayton’s bar staff deliver drinks with style and a smile Breakfast is served in a small dining room overlooking the garden and what it lacks in size it more than makes up for in quality Service is unimpeachable and I would return in a heartbeat The location is to die for

There are only 5 rooms in this boutique hotel and we stayed in a luxury suite which was massive and amazing. Large living room, separate large bathroom and (again!) large bedroom with king bed. Nice little patio area off the bedroom. The living room fronts onto the hotel pool and sun loungers. We only stayed 2 nights but had a fabulous time. At checkin, we were escorted to the suite by the receptionist and our cases were delivered promptly. Breakfast was included and consisted of a lovely small continental selection and (to order) hot breakfast of any type you like. I had the eggs Benedict which were fantastic. Hotel is a short walk from the V&A Waterfront shops, bars, restaurants etc. Felt completely safe with lots of security staff present all the time. Lovely stay. Thanks to Ashley for the personalised breakfast service but also to all the staff for their care and attention. Well worth the money (it was expensive) Recommend the Pier restaurant for fine dining and Harbour House for less formal dining.

We've just left The Dock House hotel on our tour of SA. We couldn't fault it. The attention by the staff was excellent. Room was spacious and nicely presented. Special shout out to Oswell, who always welcomed you with the biggest smile and his willingness to help. We had breakfast, which was very good, but cannot comment on the evening meals as we preferred to head out for the evenings. Its location is excellent for access to the Waterfront and the Dock House itself is steeped in history. A very enjoyable visit.

We stayed at The Dock House for 3 nights at the very start of a 21 day holiday commencing in Cape Town. We have a preference for boutique hotels, they are usually quirky and the service excellent and I have to say we were not disappointed. The check in and welcome drink at the neighbouring Queen Victoria was efficient and welcoming and we were shown quickly to our room which was great as it was only mid morning. The room was lovely and spacious, with ample seating to relax, very clean and well presented. The bathroom was huge, with a shower room, separate toilet and bath area with a roll top bath. There was a welcome plate of sweet items presented on the desk, the chocolate brownie square and the Turkish Delight were outstanding and I still think about them! The hotel was fantastically placed for the V&A Waterfront and was in a very safe courtyard area. We had drinks at the Queen Victoria and ate dinner in the other linked hotel, the Victoria and Alfred. Our food there was extremely good. The service in all three properties was outstanding, everyone was very polite and helpful, from the restaurant staff, reception team, bar staff and also the outside team who set up the sun-beds each morning - who waved and called good morning when we were out on the balcony. Breakfast is in a small drawing room which at first looked rather formal, and wasn’t helped by us being the only ones there on our first morning, as we were up early to meet a tour guide, so we felt a little conspicuous! However other guests did arrive after a while and it felt less austere. Plenty of choice on the menu for cooked breakfast as well as pastries, cereal and fruit. The guesthouse manager who looks after everyone (whose name I cannot recall) was very efficient and clearly proud of the facilities, decor and flowers in the room which he had done himself. I do agree with a previous reviewer that it was slightly odd to be presented with a bill to sign on our departure day when the breakfast is included in your stay, so essentially this was really just for you to tip-while the service did warrant a tip it didn’t really feel quite right to have a bill handed to you for this purpose. Perhaps the hotel could look at an alternative way to cover this off-perhaps at reception when you check out? Our stay at The Dock House was a wonderful start to our holiday and we were blown away by Cape Town, so much to see and do we couldn’t possibly do it justice in three days, but will certainly be back for more in the future.

The highlights were the high standard of accommodation and the lovely staff. We enjoyed the close proximity to the waterfront during the day however it was a different story at nighttime. Back the positives...everything about the hotel was exceptional and its 5 star rating thoroughly deserved. Equally the staff were an absolute credit to the Newmark brand. The manager Jason - nothing was too much trouble. The cat-loving Oswell welcoming us - such a lovely man. Ashley the "florist" - keeping the Dock House in perfect working order. Now to the downside...due to the close proximity to the waterfront, the music from the local bars kept us awake until 2am. This would be fine if you are nightowls but unfortunately meant two very sleepless nights for us. We can't be the only guests to experience this and our only criticism of our stay was not to have been informed about this. I'm sure there were quiet rooms in the main hotel away from the lift and the noise of the waterfront.

What a find!! Staying at The Dock House is an amazing experience. From the minute we checked in everything was perfect. The staff were friendly and our room absolutely wonderful. The décor was tastefully done and fitted the building perfectly. A huge bedroom with seating area along with a luxurious very large bathroom. The seating on our private balcony overlooking the pool and grounds was a lovely spot to soak up the atmosphere of the waterfront which was across the road. An abundance of bars and restaurants along with a shopping centre and also most tours and attractions are a short walk. A G&T by the pool was refreshing after a day of exploring before heading over the way for dinner. Breakfast was offered at The Victoria and Alfred across the road also which we enjoyed one morning but preferred the intimacy of the Breakfast Room at The Dock House and breakfast was great served by Ashleigh who was a joy and who also took care of the fresh floral arrangements on the tables which were gorgeous. We only had 4 nights at this wonderful property so will definitely be back such a great city really needed another week. Thank you to all the staff who made our stay fabulous. We stayed here for 5 nights. A gorgeous little hotel! Great accommodation and fantastic staff. Everything was done with a genuine smile. They couldn’t do enough to make you feel welcome and enhance our stay. We would highly recommend it. David & Maureen Brown

Dock House is a stunning boutique hotel and a short 5 min walk away from the stunning V&A waterfront. The rooms we had were beautiful, clean and well stocked with lovely sweet treats A special mention to Ashley who made our breakfasts so special and is clearly dedicated to making your stay, tables and ambience so perfect! We miss our ‘Ash lattes’ which were a vision of joy and tasted amazing.
