Travelodge Chelmsford

Located on a roundabout so very noisy. No aircon and it is a really hot hotel, so hot they don’t bother supplying duvets. Breakfast was v poor, rehydrated mushrooms, cheap sausages, coffee machine was broken, the juice dispenser was filled with water….. Not impressed, please don’t waste your money staying here.

Cheap and nasty unfortunately. Just about palettable for one night but unless you are desperate, go elsewhere. The room was pretty dirty and had stains etc. Not good enough

Myself, my lovely wife and our 2 dogs checked in at Travelodge Chelmsford on Sunday 17th May 2026, upon arrival we was greeted by such a lovely down to earth extremely friendly manager called Jayne, Dawn, Debbie, Sophie and all the rest of the staff are absolutely lovely, when we stay here it is such a lovely friendly atmosphere, food is great, the fact Travelodge is dog friendly is plus for me, we come to Travelodge time after time as it is a excellent Hotel to stay at 😊

I stayed 2 nights Friday & Saturday arriving around 6pm on Friday & still plenty of parking spaces (parking cost £7.50 for 24 hours). Stayed on 3rd floor in room 319 very quiet room at back of hotel. It’s Travelodge so frills in the room but that’s why it’s so reasonably priced! I had no complaints at all about room & bathroom both very clean & bed & pillows were very comfortable & I had 2 great nights sleep. The room was quite warm & there is no air con, I kept the window open (fortunately no noise problems) & there was a fan in the room I guess the lack of air con could be an issue in the summer months. I didn’t eat or drink in the hotel so can’t comment on this but the reception ladies were very pleasant when I checked in & told me the bar was open til 3am! The location is perfect for the town. Aldi supermarket opposite & an easy 10-15 minute walk into town. I couldn’t fault my stay & would happily stay again & wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.

We stayed for one night on May 8th. Around 3:20 am, some people were arguing loudly outside room 116. Although I asked them to be quiet and they apologised, the noise continued for ages. I know this isn't the hotel's fault. Reception should remind guests checking in late to be quiet.

Most awful experience ever. We stayed here as we were going to a family wedding. We arrived and people were given key cards to rooms with people already in. Our room was really stinking , like a bad drain smell coming from the bathroom. They could not change the room as it was full for the weekend so I bought cleaning things and cleaned and put air fresheners in. The bar was closed at 8 even though advertised a lot later. Then 2 men came in and were served after flirting with the bar girl. I asked why we couldn't be served. Was told "ONE DRINK THEN" The breakfast ran every morning by 8pm. Even things like bread had run out. We usually have a great service from any Travelodge, so this is not the normal for this chain. We hid our valuables as multiple family and friends also staying had the same story of people coming into the rooms or going into rooms where someone was clearly staying with belongings left out.. We left a day early as it did not feel safe and the smell was unbearable. We did complain at the time and after in writing and received a goodwill gesture but it was more of a 'we are sorry YOU felt this way and not a proper apology. Now they removed the original review saying there has been renovations but I think this is more to do with the people being let into rooms that were already occupied that they do not want us to tell of.

I stayed here for two nights and had a great experience. I was checked in by Jayne, who was incredibly helpful and made the process smooth and welcoming. The rooms were very clean, and the location was perfect. The breakfast was also really lovely! I would definitely stay here again!

We had a great stay at travelodge at the end of April. I arranged a large group booking taking up the majority of the hotel. Esme and Jayne were absolutely amazing in getting everything sorted that we needed and went above and beyond to accommodate our needs across the weekend. We needed early breakfast one morning which they were able to accommodate. We were really grateful for this, especially with such a large group! The room was clean and beds were comfy. Would definitely stay again and use this hotel for any future large bookings we have

very good nights sleep staying 1 night for a wake so I could have a drink, staff very helpful and room was clean would recommend
