ザ ポートランド ゲストハウス(The Portland Guesthouse)

Such an amazing friendly place to stay. The charity running this b and b should be so proud of everything they do. Learning about what their aim is via the qr code in the room was really informative. Our room was comfy and nice and quiet. We were in room 3 which had a door to the back outdoor area. The carpet could do with a deep clean and the bed a little a squeaky but it was very comfortable and the cleanliness of the room was great. Really good bathroom with a powerful shower. The key card entry made getting into the house at night really easy. The decor is so in keeping with the are of the house and reading about it’s history was lovely. Every member of staff we had dealings with were lovely, treated us with smiles and so friendly. Without a doubt we would definitely stay again. The little eggs on our table on Easter morning just made it even more special.

This is a warm and welcoming guest house. It is well situated and my room was very comfortable and peaceful with a good shower. I was meeting a friend in town during the afternoon, which was a 5 minute walk and heading off to the football ground in the evening - just a 10 minute stroll the other way. Very reasonably priced and thoroughly recommended.

This hotel was nice, it’s furnished in keeping with the style and it was in a very convenient spot, the problem is nobody seems to take responsibility for maintenance. The first room we were checked into, number 2 had a broken bed base that had been crudely fixed and was waiting to snap again, having pointed this out we were moved to another very nice room next door but neither lamp was working they both needed new bulbs and the wardrobe which was lurching slightly forward and fell against my husband when he opened it wasn’t fastened to the wall, the fixings had come away from the wall. Breakfast was ok but you could tell it wasn’t run by the hosts, the customer attention just wasn’t there. Having said that we had a nice break and the room was comfortable and clean once the problems had been sorted.

Really enjoyable stay we will return if we come back to Cheltenham. Lovely friendly staff who couldn’t be more helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Very comfortable and clean room all decor in keeping with the period of the building as per their renovation notes. Breakfast tasty with good option and great fresh coffee. Great location for a quick walk into town. We parked opposite in the NCP, there are street permits available for local streets, if you book these at least 24 hours before you arrive( not mentioned on booking sites)

A wonderful house, superbly decorated, exceptionally clean. A good sized room and en-suite, good location next door to the brewery quarter/ (food, beer, cinema etc). Lovely host, easy check in/out. Well cooked breakfast, the only disappoin**ent was no HP!! only a sweet brown sauce in a plastic bottle, good vegetarian and vegan options. As with any town centre room/house there is a bit of road noise/sirens, busses etc.. We would not hesitate to return.

We came to The Portland Guest House for afternoon high tea. The house itself it’s beautiful and kept in stunning condition. We were greeted by the wonderful staff member Oliver who was very friendly and thoughtful ! The food was beautiful and the cakes were yummy. The tea was our favourite and the wonderful scones! Beautiful guesthouse with wonderful staff! Jules and Sian were wonderful ! Thank you both for a fabulous tea !

Really enjoyed our stay at this sweet little guesthouse Greeted by various members of the team, all so lovely and down to earth!! Room was spotless, bed was very comfy and breakfast was delicious Great location for short walk to shops and bars Only problem we had was finding where to park with our permit, but I think that’s more my driving skills! The NCP car park is directly opposite and huge Would highly recommend ☺️

Another great stay at this fabulously run guesthouse. We were greeted by Matt on arrival who showed us to our room and had good chat about things to do and different restaurants to try, Matt also did our breakfast the next morning. We stayed for four nights and nothing could have been done any better. We had stayed here last year and knew what to expect. We were here for the races as were most of the other guests which created a great vibe throughout the guesthouse. Easy walk into town and plenty of restaurants to choose from. The staff here are all very willing and pleasant, Sian the manageress is very hands on and professional. Poppy was very happy on a morning serving breakfast and Oliver who did the rooms was a delight. Every member of staff we encountered felt as if they had real purpose which made it a pleasure to stay here. Very well done and can’t wait for next year.

We had a lovely stay here, we came for the weekend for a little get away. The hotel was perfect, clean and lovely room. Yummy breakfast. Staff were all friendly and helpful. The location was great we could walk everywhere we wanted to go from the hotel. Thank you!
