The Churchill Arms

On visiting The Churchill Arms with friends this afternoon after a chilly Cotswold walk, the manager refused to serve us coffee. The reason being…………all their coffee cups were in use. We pointed out that we’d be happy to have our coffee in tea mugs, of which there were several available. He again refused as apparently ‘that is not the way they do things’. Really ????? I have eaten at this pub several times before, but this visit will be my last. I actually wouldn’t have have given them even one star. Rude and unhelpful.

Visited on NewYears Day large family gathering with two children. Firstly the table we were seated on was to say the least unsuitable for such a large gathering with children to be precise in order to visit the bathroom you had to crawl under the table!!! The manager made us feel we were an inconvenience as was rushed to order food and made it obvious was not happy with food being spilt on floor from a 1year old. I can only assume he is not used to being in the company of toddlers. Finally food was very disappointing and very overpriced. I am not normally one to complain but feel is necessary in this case as due to the extortionate prices they charge.. All in all very disappointing and wud definitely not return.

Wonderful meal at the Churchill today.. the smoked haddock soufflé divine.. the fillet of beef with truffle mash sublime.. we had no room for dessert but a fabulous espresso martini. A relaxed and informal beautiful pub with top not nosh! My husband doesn’t often enjoy eating out as says we can eat just as well at home without the expense. He was blown away by the flavours and quality of the cuisine ! Thank you team Churchill
