The hotel is built in the Alhambra Andalucian style with beautiful Moorish architecture, especially arches. The lobby has a stunning chandelier and the photos from the top are lovely.
The interior is tastefully decorated with many local artefacts. Our city view room was spacious, very clean, with tea and coffee making facilities, shower cubicle with excellent shower pressure and no splash of water on the bathroom floor. ( a big problem in Algeria) Very quiet. Bed is lovely and the pillows are hypoallergenic and very comfy. Well equipped gym. I did not have the time to use the sauna or the pool. Outdoor pool was closed and the indoor pool is heated and small. a few hours reserved for ladies only.
Staff are generally Ok but I wont say genuinely warm. English is hardly spoken. I had paid the city tax at check in and they asked me again to pay that at check out. The breakfast buffet looks lavish but western options are limited and they need to have some description of the food item in English as one would expect Algeria to have more English speaking guests form now on. I felt the bread were overbaked, scrambled eggs and omelette average and the coffee insipid. Breakfast room had many staff but seemed to be wandering around. Lovely views of the bridges and the mosque. It is pretty far from the old city.
It is one of the most expensive hotels that we stayed in our long trip through Algeria and I felt the value for money was a little suboptimal.
