Despite what’s advertised one should beware some misleading info. We expected a king size bed in the kings deluxe unit but the bed was closer to a Queen. More disappointing was the promise of a “kitchen” only to be presented with an outdoor BBQ grill, microwave, toaster, kettle, plates, bowls and a mini fridge. Absent were pots, pans, a hob and we were told at check in not to do any washing as there was no sink. To be fair, a breakfast basket of breads was provided with jams but it was certainly not a kitchen. When we raised the issue of different advertising with our host, we received neither clarifications nor any sympathy. Otherwise, it was lovely stay.

Perfect. Unique and well thought out room with everything you will need. Great location close to town but situated in a peaceful location with a view to the mountains. Amazing variety of hot tub options, all as fabulous as the next. Lots of wine options from the boutique vineyard. We loved them all. The hosts/staff were great - in the background but always available. They made the time to sit down with us for a tasting of all the amazing wine and port options. We are already planning to go back!!

My wife and I spent one night here, and absolutely loved the place, the wine tasting, the hot pools, and the amazing hospitality from owners Graeme and Jan-Marie. Super friendly hosts, really nice hot pool experience and super comfy, well appointed studio. Would thoroughly recommend checking them out. Thanks again. Cheers!!

We stayed in the lovely cottage, its was so relaxing. The breakfast was a wee treat every morning and it was such a relaxing environment.

We were really disappointed. arrived and werent made to feel welcome at all, in fact the opposite. Paid $65 a night to park in a gravel carpark area - no showers, no toilet between 7.30pm and 12 noon) , no dumpstation, no laundry. There are two spots and the camper next to us is a parked a couple of metres next to us. there is no privacy - even a hedge or barrier between the parking spots would be nice. I dont recommend this at all. In fact, we are departing a night early as its not a pleasant experience and quite simply a rip off.

We have recently spent 6 Days in the cottage ( home away from home). These places are more a liking, being stand alone accommodation.Everything you needed was here, plus Cromwell is central to most activities. We give River Rock 1st class rating. Many thanks Graeme & Jan Marie.

We had a wonderful 3 day stay. Beautiful accommodation, comfy bed, awesome shower, it had everything you could want. The breakfast was more than a basic continental breakfast, with something different each day. The hosts really made it for us, with a daily happy hour, which was an opportunity to meet other travelers, share stories & have a laugh. The wine tasting was very much to our taste, although I'm not a savvy drinker, I did take to the "Two Together" which is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc & Pinot Gris.

We only booked for camping 1 night but really glad we changed our mind and booked the hot tub was brilliant and fantastic views, Graeme and Jan-Marie were brilliant hosts with lots of interesting information about the wine and the interesting labels on the bottles Thank you so much for making the start of our tour brilliant Tina and Marks Berry

HOT TUB at its best! Sooo great on a freezing evening! Snow on the hills around us. Water temp was PERFECT! (No need for the cool off haha) Beautiful Sav & cheese & crackers pack EACH! We will be back 🧡 Hosts were fantastic! UP THE WAHS!!!!! Haha

The chalet was very clean and cosy with air con and ceiling fan, it was 29 when we were there. Breakfast basket had a good selection and there was milk, butter, ham, cheese and fruit juice in the fridge. Plenty of tea and coffee. There is a major road nearby and we found the noise quite intrusive overnight. The bed and pillows wee a bit hard for me but that’s personal choice. The shower was excellent . We found the host rather disinterested and skipped the wine tasting. We were also shocked by a $12.65 surcharge when we presented our debit card for payment. We were told it was because we had used a contactless credit card, (it was debit , and we had not been charged a surcharge anywhere else in the previous two weeks). Shoulders were shrugged and we departed. Rather ruined our stay.

Amazing experience! We stayed here in our self-contained van and joined in on the wine tasting experience; not to be missed! Jan-Marie and Graeme are great people, super friendly and ensured we had a great time. Their wines and phenomenal and we have a lovely and relaxed evening.

Recently had 3 nights here and it was very relaxing having a glass of wine in the middle of the vineyard!! The villa was compact but so comfortable the shower and bed so comfy and lovely views to wake up to. Plenty of places to visit or if you are a keen cyclist plenty of routes from the vineyard, if wine is your thing plenty of vineyards in the area but don’t forget to get back for the 5o’clock tasting with Graeme and Jan great conversation and refreshments. Certainly stay again if we come back to this area.

What an amazing little spot. The Hosts/owners were fantastic. The wine tasting was fun. Loved the view, wine selection and the private hot tubs. I highly recommend River Rock Estate as a romantic get away.

Delightful wine tasting that accompanied the overnight stay. The accommodation was very comfortable and had outstanding views. Best shower of our three week stay in New Zealand. The hosts were friendly and very helpful. Short walk to restaurants and shops.
