We stayed two nights in this beautiful traditional hotel. Great location and a wonderful setting. The staff were extremely kind and helpful. The breakfast was local, but they provided us with bread and yogurt.
Highly recommended!
Such a unique experience to stay in a place with so much history. The service was attentive and very warm - we even had a home cooked meal together with the staff. 油条the cat was exceptionally adorable. We’d recommend staying and would return!
This was the perfect hotel to stay at whilst in Dali. Located in the ancient town you are right off the Main Street between the north and south gates. We enjoyed the pick up service from the railway station that was included in our room. The hotel is a renovated heritage Bai building. Rooms are Japanese tatami style with bidet toilets. The service from the owner and all staff was warm, accomodating and professional. They provided tea, fruit, and an evening dessert. The owner even especially went to pick up breakfast for us when she realised we were checking out prior to their breakfast service starting. The resident cat was also just as friendly. We would highly recommend a stay here.
This hotel is inside the Dali ancient city. But you can actually drive to it so you don’t have to carry your luggages on the uneven road. The hotel has a cat that’s so adorable and close to human. If you call it the cat will walk to you and ask you to pet it! I didn’t pet it and it refused to leave LOL. The afternoon tea is a must have. If you go to Dali during the peak season it might be difficult to get a didi taxi and I would recommend walk to the nearest public transportation station.
Stayed for 3 nights in the moon journey room which has 2 rooms around end of March 2026. The hotel is housed in a centuries old building on a small lane inside the Dali ancient city. Cars can go in the lane but with difficulty especially in the day when the lane is crowded.
We received warm welcome from the reception when we arrived and the manager brought us through a short tour and intro of the old building which was formerly a district governor house. There are wear and tear as expected of old building but still much well maintained.
Rooms were large, we have the whole floor on one side of the house to ourselves. Rooms were clean, comes with free drinks and water. Only 1 toilet and washroom. The room comes with a tea area.
Free tea and snacks were provided for one of the days and the hotel provides a one way transfer which you can use to go to the hotel or to the airport. Aiso free breakfast served local style.
Location wise, this is inside the ancient city so it is convenient to go anywhere from here.
If you love staying in old houses or looking for unique stay experience, this is recommended.
We had a wonderful stay here during our trip to Yunnan. The service was excellent — the staff were welcoming, attentive, and always ready to help.
The hotel itself is charming, with a beautiful traditional style that reflects the character of the old town. Our room was clean, quiet, and comfortable, making it a pleasant place to rest after a day of exploring.
Breakfast was delicious, especially the freshly prepared Chinese noodle soup.
The location is ideal, right in the center of the old town for walking and exploring the historic streets and the nearby agricultural market, while still remaining easily accessible by car.
Overall, a charming place to stay with excellent hospitality and a great location.
