My son loves to stay there because of the swimming pool. Unfortunately the pool was closed. So we need to go to Garden Hilton instead. We always enjoy the front desk staff in our previous stays. This time no exception, he was very good. I cannot recall his name though. We have paid for our breakfast with the booking. But when we were in the restaurant, the staff cannot find our room number. We went to front desk, the lady told me we haven't paid for the breakfast. In the end, I have to show her our booking details. In my view, this should be avioded if the hotel had do the job properly. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Friendly service and easy checkin - breakfast good and convenient. Pool nice and relaxing area. Walk to everything - enjoyable spot.

The GOOD: The location is quite convenient, being close to the waterfront and city centre. The hotel itself feels a little dated, but is clean and reasonably well presented. The AVERAGE: Check in was slow, however, I did arrive at a busy time. Bedding is OK, but there’s a doona without a top sheet (I really, really hate this) which - in Darwin - makes for an uncomfortably warm sleep, even with the AC cranked up. I deal with this by pulling the doona out of its cover, and using the cover as a top sheet. see pic. The BAD. And it’s very bad. The restaurant and room service. Good grief. Where to begin.. There’s no menu for room service in the room, despite the welcome letter advising that there is. Call the front desk, they tell you; it’s on your TV. It isn’t. Go to the front desk. They advise that it’s actually not on the TV. You have to go into the restaurant and look at the menu, then go back to your room and order. OK. Maybe room service isn’t the best idea.. Breakfast. You go to the restaurant and order. Your coffee arrives, but the waitress takes away the number on your table. Your breakfast (which you paid for) simply never arrives. Or possibly comes out, but they can’t find you because your table number is gone. You never know. In any case, you don’t get breakfast. Dinner. You *foolishly* think that - maybe - you just had a bad night the previous day. You order. The food arrives but the drinks are wrong. The guy delivering the meal goes away and comes back soon enough, but by then the meal is cold. The Bottom Line: Stay here, if you must. If location is paramount, this is a good choice. But don’t eat here. There are good pubs and restaurants a short walk away. There are also cheaper options worth checking.

Lovely hotel situated in a great spot along Darwin Esplanade. Side entry access to Mitchell Street behind the hotel to walk into town. The king room was very nice and the bed was very comfortable, with a great bathroom. Great staff at front reception and in the dining area. Absolutely beautiful pool.

My wife and I stayed at the DoubleTree by Hilton for a long weekend at the end of May. We selected the hotel for the location in Darwin city, both to explore the surroundings and be close enough to amenities. The Hotel: Conveniently located along the Esplanade, it’s a quiet street overlooking the sea and green area. Upon arrival, the lobby is very spacious with lots of seating and when we arrived not very busy. Check in was relatively smooth and greeted with Australian warmth of hospitality. The Room: We stayed in the standard King Guest room, that overlooked the pool but still had a view of the sea (and good enough to see the spectacular sunsets). The room can be summarised in one word as “spacious”. Plenty of room to spread out while not tripping over any suitcases or furniture. The bed was very comfortable and we both slept well. In the room was a large desk, lounge area and a decent coffee/tea selection. The bathroom was very clean and also spacious but didn’t have any vanity items, so you will need plan around that if you normally rely on this. If you’re staying a long time, the wardrobe is a bit small so you might want to plan around that also. However, points need to be deducted for the AU$9.95 per day charge for WiFi. We were a bit surprised by that as I’ve not come across a WiFi fee for a very long time! The Location: Right along the Esplanade makes it easy to get out and walk to supermarkets, restaurants and bars etc. It’s a very short cab ride to the Waterfront or the Sunday food market so I would recommend the hotel. We hired a car to drive to the national parks and jumping crocs etc, and it was very easy to get around. The airport was a 20-25 min cab drive away.

The staff here are friendly and welcoming. Lots of knowledge of what to do and where to go. Stayed for 3 nights. Great room in good location on the esplanade. The pool was good as was the breakfast. Free parking included. Handy to Mitchell street with bars and restaurants.

Arrived to a friendly warm welcome by reception. Yummy cookie too 👏🏻👏🏻 Drinks voucher for each day and free parking too as part of the luxury escapes package. Hotel is very clean spacious and relaxing. Our room was a good size very clean with an outlook over the water. Breakfast had an ample selection. Sitting outside by the pool very relaxing. The pool is a welcome relief from the heat and is a nice size too. Definitely deserving of a 5/5 10/10 team double tree
