Plas Gwyn B&B and Holiday Cottage

I came here after seeing nobody has written a bad review and I can totally see why! Jan and Julie were so welcoming and friendly from the moment I rang the bell to the moment I left. The room was spotless and the bed was perfect for after a long trek up Cadair Idris. I've never tasted a cooked breakfast as nice as Jan's in my life, the meat was all fresh and local and it was all to die for! Thank you so much both, I will definitely be back again when I'm up that way!

A beautiful, fully equipped cottage, which retains its originality. It was warm and cosy and so welcoming. It is ideally placed for discovering Snowdonia. It is dog friendly too - an added advantage.

Our recent stay at the Plas Gwyn was an absolute joy. The house has a period elegance and an unsurpassed charm which is felt as soon as you walk through the door. Jan and Julie are the perfect hosts who take pride in their house. They are very helpful plus knowledgeable on the the local area, whether it be advice on scenic walks or which bakery sells the best Welsh Cakes! Their enthusiasm to make you feel welcome is wonderful. The Breakfasts deserve a mention too. Absolutely delicious! Jan and Julie will happily prepare to suit people's quirky preferences. The dinning room is the perfect place to plan your days adventure along side the 300 year old oak side board which must have witnessed many adventures! Plas Gwyn is perfectly situatated, just a few minutes walk from the heart of beautiful Dolgellau with it's extensive range of restaurants and pubs to suit everyone's taste. My only negative comment is that I'm disappointed we didn't discover this amazing place untill now. Thank you We will back!

First time at Dolgellau in Plas Gwyn B & B . We loved every part of the break, The b and b is extremely old and kept in good condition, every thing we needed but dont expect Modern decor or fresh paint . The owners are very welcoming and so helpful on things to do with all the guests, Jan gave us advice on our cycle ride to Barmouth so we wouldnt get lost, it was a brilliantly flat 8 mile ride with absolutely stunning views, we stopped off in Barmouth had an hour or so there and then cycled 8 miles back with a stop off at the George pub , (not very nice lager though). A dip in the river towards the end. Jan also gave us guidance on a short easy walk at Cregennan, with 2 lakes and absolutely stunning scenery with a look over to barmouth. and Cadair Idris. Jan also told us the best pubs ,The Torrent pub had excellent food and cheap prices with lots of character. I hope we visit again sometime.

First time at the Plas Gwyn and probably NOT my last. Julie and Jan have a great place here, lovely period building packed with original features (yep, it's listed). Had a lovely room with great facilities. A nice comfy bed with 4 pillows as you'd expect for a double but the best thing was that 2 were big and puffy, 2 were much thinner which suited me perfectly so I had a cracking sleep. Breakfast was superb with black pudding on the menu and grilled vine tomatoes. Bacon and sausage locally sauced and tasted great. For me, apart from all the good stuff, the 2 really top things were; a) It has proper parking 👌 and b) Excellent secure and alarmed cycle storage 👌👍. The Plas Gwyn come highly recommended and look forward to staying over again. Thanks very much Julie and Jan 👌

A historical little rock cottage that has everything needed to be comfortable. The hosts are easily accessible and pay attention to the details. There was a wonderful loaf of bread and Welsh cakes waiting for us upon check in. John has lots of ideas about where to hike and what to do. Great place to stay as you explore Eryri!

Have you ever been on vacation and your accommodation is just an unremarkable place to sleep? Not Plas Gwyn. I'd give them 20 stars if I could. We were 4 plus 2 dogs and 2 of us stayed in the B&B while the rest stayed in a lovely cottage at the back. From the moment you set foot in either the main house or the cottage you feel like you entered a period movie. Jan and Julie not only are remarkable people, but their attention to detail is unparalleled. While we went for a weekend escapade, I certainly regret not having a spare day to enjoy the cottage in front of the fire. Location wise, Plas Gwyn is located in Dolgellau, a beautiful small town in the North of Wales. Though petit, it had very good options of food, Julie was super kind in guiding us to the best places. Breakfast is served for the B&B guests in principle, but Jan and Julie were so kind as to accommodate us 4 for breakfast at their wonderfully decorated dining room. Our dogs felt at home at the cottage, nothing like a beautiful pet friendly place to stay, and at the end of long walking days they loved cuddling in the cottage living room in front of the fire. It was a magical stay and we'll be definitely looking forward to come back!

Very easy booking and great information from the owners. We stayed in the cottage, which was very clean and comfortable. Everything you need is available including hairdryer, iron & ironing board. All cooking implements are in good order although plenty of restaurants are nearby. Jan & Julie have excellent local knowledge and they provide good literature in the cottage of nearby places of interest. Overall an excellent place to stay

The B& B was perfect. Free parking with a lovely outside area to sit and relax in the sun, The host, Jan was very friendly and accommodating. He served a very nice breakfast with lots of choice. There were tea and coffee facilities in the room. Also welsh cakes, bottled water and a mini fridge with fresh milk in it. The bed was very comfy and the large room with a four poster bed very bright. The large window looked over the garden and the smaller one the entrance and cottage next door. Ideally located to get around. We would definitely recommend the Plas Gwyn B&B.
