Their advertisment is false. There is no breakfast, and as dirty as it was I wouldn't eat there anyways. The pool was green, cloudy, and cold. We had no heat in our room for the two days we were there (looking for a safer hotel). And they charged us $388.44 for the two days. The bathroom vent had no cover so the blades were exposed. The outside door on the second floor didn't lock. At night there was yelling, doors slamming, and partying going on. I would NOT recommend this Inn to anyone.

I stayed here quite a bit when I was homeless due to lack of anywhere else I could afford. I was doing gig work at the time for door dash and uber eats but this place was disgusting, yet it was a place to shower. i am so glad i am no longer homeless and will not have to deal with the dirty sheets or filthy rugs. i thank god every day i no longer need to deal with that

Clean room, easy to get to. Not extremely quiet though. Lots of people standing in driveway talking loud. Hot water comes on quickly.

Upon arrival, the smell was off-putting, we were told the pool wasn't working, and that there was no hot tub even though advertised. We walked to our room (room 25), which was right across from the pool (terrible spot). Dark stains are all over the rugs in the hallway. Check out the breakfast room, crumbs everywhere, food under the countertop fridge, the kitchen sink was terribly brown stained, the floor was sticky, and the next morning, the same amount of orange juice was in the container in the fridge, with the same amount of orange juice, which was about 1" high (not even enough for one person). Who knows how long the milk was in there? Now, the bedroom, even worse. Stained rugs. Dingy pillowcases. Fire Alarm aff the wall, no cover, and wires hanging. The Top Wall unit AC dripping on the rug. The rug is wet. Told the desk staff. They said no other rooms were available and gave us a red bucket and a towel to put under the unit. Furniture in the bedroom and bathroom was dusty, no chair to sit on to put shoes on, the toilet area on the floor had yellow stains around the toilet (yuck), no non-slip bathtub, and no handrails. Last but not least, and very unsafe, the backdoor would not latch, and so the hotel was completely open to unregistered guests 24/7. This has been reported to the Board of Health and local town authorities, such as the fire department and police, and Department of Environmental Services, and more .....

Friendly and helpful staff but very limited accommodations. Not even a chair in the room let alone a desk. Lots of light from pool area came in around the blinds all night. No towel racks or bars - odd. Pool area and snack room were stuffy and overwarm. The best choice if you have come by train and are without a car, though, because it's close to everything.

Not the best by any means. TV remote did not work AC was very noisy that it had to be shut off to sleep. If you are needing a place to just catch some sleep than this is it

The groom was filthy, dirty carpet, hole in the wall, smelled like smoke. The people outside were sketchy. Lasted 1/2 hour and they wouldn’t reimburse us. Terrible experience!

Photos on line showed a pristine indoor pool and hot tub which is one of the reasons we decided to stay there. Hot tub had been filled in and pool did not look healthy. Room had no towel racks in the bathroom or on the door. Wallboards - paint chipped and peeling. Smell of cigarette smoke when we came in after being out all day from people smoking in rooms next to us and outside. Coffee maker did not work and the second coffee maker did not work. People hanging out in the back parking lot. A dispute between people next door to us went on for a couple of hours. Police called twice. We booked for two nights. Will not be staying there again.

Had to change rooms after first night due to smell, uncleanliness and shower control handle missing. Room smelled of cigarette smoke, cat pee, and heavy cleaner, though carpet was filthy. Second room was better, but not by much. Several spiders found in room. Parking lot was littered with cigarette butts of those coming out to smoke then going back to rooms. Had to sign for$500 cleaning fee if smoking in room. A/C air smelt of mold and mildew. Pool was closed for maintenance (looked permanent). Breakfast area was full of boxes and was not tended or cleaned, ran out of supply regularly. Breakfast food choices extremely limited. Coffee only (no decaf) always out of juice and breads/muffins. Housekeeping was haphazard. Dirty linens in bin remained in parking lot overnight in the rain. Location was great in Dover. The price was lower than other options, now I know why. Staff was not always helpful or upfront or timely with the promises they made. Have pictures. Could have been a great place.

I am sorry but I cannot give a good review for The Downtown Dover Inn. It's too bad because the location in downtown Dover is so great! The place could really be fantastic but it turns out the location isn't everything in this particular case. I felt uncomfortable with the people who hang around in the parking lot acting sketchy and seeming to have no purpose there. The door lock was not great at all, and I am older woman traveling alone with my granddaughter and I did not feel secure at all. The outside entrances to the building were also not secure. The breakfast was absolutely terrible - unclean, hardly any edible food, and no one around to ask any questions. The bedding was clean and the bed was comfortable. The overall cleanliness of the room was fine, but the building itself was not clean. This place really needs to start from scratch and get rid of the people hanging around for no reason.

The location of the Downtown Dover Inn is amazing. You can walk easily to any place down town and make it back to your room in about 15 minutes. This is why we went here to stay. From the location side of things the spot delivered. The room, was just not all there. I would recommend a pool view room so you can stay "inside" the main building during the winter months. The other rooms are accessible from the outside. Our room didn't have the heat turned on when we came in and it was pretty cold. The door had a solid few inch gap at the bottom. So we were able to turn on the heat and use towels to plug the bottom of the door. The room was decently clean, a bit dated, but clean.

Clean. Quiet. Location within walking distance to Strand Theater and many restaurants. Newly renovated. Very nice pool, just the right size. Ask for 1st floor if stairs are an issue. Nice thick towels. Cable. Free WiFi. Park at your door if you're on 1st floor. Front desk staff will very helpful with directions.

The Downtown Dover Inn had only been open 1 week after its remodel from a Days Inn, when we stayed here. The location is excellent and that was the main reason we chose to stay here. We were able to walk to everything downtown. The front desk agent, Kris, was very personable and informative. We had an interior room facing the pool. The room was…fine. The bed was very(!) firm and had crisp sheets. But, the curtains did not adequately cover the window and the pool lights stay on all night, which makes the room seem like there’s a bright nightlight on. If you like a dark room to sleep in, this may bother you. We felt as if the smaller details were forgotten about during the renovation, such as: no light on one side of the king bed, no outlet on that side so you can not charge phones or plug anything else in, no outlet in the bathroom, so you have to dry your hair in the closet area where there was a mirror, there’s no place to put towels in the bathroom (no hooks or bars), and the bathroom mirror had an etching coating on it that made you look ‘hazy/fuzzy’. Maybe it’s supposed to be a fog-less mirror? Either way, you’re doing makeup in the closet area where the other mirror is, but there’s no light. We only needed one night in the downtown area, so this worked for us. This Inn could be a real gem to downtown Dover, if it would polish itself up a little more.
