After reading the previous reviews about this hotel I wasn't expecting much. But actually, I was blown away by the hotel. We had a beautiful room that opened onto a small swimming pool that was shared with 5 or 6 other rooms. The garden areas are really well cared for. The hotel has its own but of private beach. The breakfast buffet was of a really high calibre. We are in the restaurant on two evenings, and the food was amazing. The hotel has its own boat service where they will take you out for snorkel trips, or water skiing. Twice a week they have a glass bottom boat. Would definitely recommend this hotel, and if I return to Mauritius, would stay there again.

Lovely location. The rooms and facilities are run down, need a lot of refurb and maintenance. Staff need better customer service skills.

Ocean Villas is a simple family budget hotel and, as such, provides good value for money. The initial welcome was a little cool, but the front desk got warmer, and a few issues we had with the room were solved well and fairly promptly. We were early and our room was not ready, but it was ready right at the official check-in time. The front desk was flexible and helpful with a late check out time. The complex has a tired feel to it and is in need of some TLC - a roof scrub and bit of whitewash on all the outside walls would help the external appeal greatly. Our room, billed as renovated/contemporary, was nice but a bit tired - quite spacious and with a good-sized bathroom. The hotel has natural, simple, well-kept gardens and it lies directly on a very pleasant small and quite private beach with great views of the Bay and with some water-based activities. We had the evening buffet several times, and they were all very good - reasonably wide choice, well cooked, varied and tasty. The breakfast buffet was also varied and decent. Our one a la carte evening was disappointing, the food mediocre and the service slow (no desserts delivered to anyone until the entire restaurant had finished the main course).The evening entertainment was not always to our taste, but it was nice to have it provided and the guests seemed to enjoy it. The piped music during the day was good (lots of well-known international songs, locally recorded and to a fine reggae rhythm.

The ocean is nice and the ladies in reception, one of them is named Jennifer, is exceptionally nice and makes you feel welcome. She was incredibly kind. Food was quite disappointing- ordered an omelette for breakfast and it had burned black bits in it from previous food cooked in the pan as they don’t clean their pans. Was kind of disgusting really. However the staff was friendly, but just felt like the hotel tried to find the worst quality produce to save on costs. The ocean villas are far better and more private than the other accommodation

Been there for the week end and i must say I was very impressed with the good food! Love the Bbq and chinese night theme! Balinese massage excellent, highly recommended! The room was very cleaned but pillows need some replacement, we could see that it was very old. Just a little note: The staffs in the restaurant need some training specially for customer service and professionalism.

We, a group of four couples, all about 70, stayed at this property from January 19-24, 2023 (Room# 301, 302, 303, 304). Our first experience of check-in, Reception was a little disappointing. In spite of registering in advance online and sending it by mail, the Receptionist, who appeared after sometime, struggled with her computer and located our details on our insistence. Next disappointment was when we were told there were no bellboys and we have to lug our luggage ourselves to our rooms. This is a spread out property. She would show us our rooms when she would be free. Through cobbled stones we lugged our belongings to our rooms. Two rooms were on the ground floor, two on the first floor without lifts. One friend was taken through the stairs on the first floor, was asked to come down and go up again through the other staircase. We had informed the hotel well in advance that we all 8 were Indian vegetarians, and any one cooked hot item in breakfast would be all right for us. They had told us that they had enough items in their menu. On the first day of breakfast one of us went there beforehand to survey what was available. Apart from cold, uncooked items, there was nothing for us. On our request they cooked something on the first day. Thereafter, there was no hot item for us, apart from usual toast etc. Our conclusion: Good property for vacation but not friendly to Indian (vegetarians) tourists and not friendly to senior citizens.

You need to manage your expectations when you book a stay at Ocean Villas. You might have watched their fancy YouTube video but it's not reality. You'll also see videos from past guests. And it's fair to say that these videos show the icing on the cake and core ingredients. If you saw a married couple from South Africa touring the hotel, be warned that they've shown the best parts. It's a 3 star establishment. And that means you're going to have to put up with a property that was built circa 1980s. There were signs of wear and tear everywhere. As you walk through the front door, some parts of the villas needed a bit of filler and a lick of paint. Some of the furniture had seen better days and our shower door leaked every time we took a shower. But the villa was clean. The beds were comfortable and our villa had amenities that you wouldn't expect. A safe, hair dryer and a microwave was available. A bottle of mineral water (Crystal) was also provided on arrival and parking outside the villas was convenient. As for the grounds, the gardens are kept well. It's not going to blow you away but again it's 3 star. The swimming pool didn't look as clean as we'd like. We opted not to go for a dip. The cushions on the seats were covered in stains. Not great. The beach was decent. The view out to the bay was great. You can swim but when we stayed, the sea was choppy but that's not the hotel's problem. What's great about Oceans Villa is its location. You're only 5 minutes away in a car from the best public beaches. Namely Trou aux Biches, Mon Choisy, Pereybere and La Cuvette. So you're spoilt for choice. We'd like to praise the service at the hotel. The kitchen staff and serving staff were accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble. The entertainment in the evening was particularly good, and you'll certainly be tapping your toes and most likely dancing. Lastly the food. There's a good selection of food but too much MSG added to it. Every morning, we woke up to that awful salty taste on our tongues. So as you can gather there's some good parts to Oceans Villas but you're going to have to put up with some bad parts. if you're on a budget and happy to stay in a 3 star establishment where you can experience the beaches in the North, it's a good place to stay. Would we stay there again? I'd most likely opt for a self catering apartment. We felt for the money, we'd get better quality of facilities but then again we'd have to prepare our food.
