It's a very pretty location and has a lot of amenities. I was a bit surprised to see how many people were there with small children.

I wish I could say something positive about our stay, but it was truly awful. For $544 a night, I expected comfort, cleanliness, and professionalism. Instead, we were met with a series of disappointments from start to finish. After booking, we were told the restaurant would be closed, and on the day of check-in, we were informed the hot tub was also closed. When we arrived, we found the restaurant taken over by a wedding, complete with a DJ blasting music until 10 p.m. The cabins are packed tightly together and sit right next to the main road, so between the DJ and the sound of road noise, it was impossible to relax. The worst part was the condition of our cabin. It was tiny, dark, and smelled strongly of mildew. The mini split on the wall was full of black mold inside the vents, and the bathroom had mold on the ceiling panels, between the shower tiles, and along the floor. This is absolutely unsafe for guests, especially children or anyone with respiratory sensitivities. It’s also completely unacceptable given the rates they charge. There are plenty of far better options in the area, including The Stavrand and the Farmhouse Inn, both of which are immaculate, comfortable, and well-run. I would never recommend Dawn Ranch to anyone. It was one of the worst hospitality experiences I’ve had in years.

We had a lovely stay at Dawn Ranch with my wife and our toddler-age daughter. The environment was calm, quiet, and very relaxing, which made it a great family getaway. One of the highlights was simply walking around the ranch. The property has a peaceful, natural feel, and it was very satisfying to slow down and enjoy the surroundings. I especially loved having brunch in the outdoor area with a view of the coastal redwoods. It made the meal feel really special. We also enjoyed the Sunday tour in Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve. It was a great way to learn more about the area and appreciate the beautiful redwood forest nearby. The only thing to note is that the cabin felt a bit on the smaller side, especially when traveling with family and a toddler. But overall, Dawn Ranch was a very pleasant and memorable stay, and we would be happy to come back.

Wonderful gem 5 min from Redwood forest and 15 min from amazing wineries. Beautiful property, luxury in the woods. The Lodge had the most amazing food, best we have had in while. The downtown area seems unkept and needs more options for shopping and eating. Great place to unwind overall.

Dawn Ranch is a serene getaway. The grounds, rooms and all spaces were beautifully designed and curated. I read a couple of reviews that said the hot tub was broken. It was broken for us too. The hot water was out in our cabin but that was promptly addressed. For the price, a complementary light breakfast would have been more than welcome. The spa was so beautifully designed and my masseuse Lori was dreamy. The food was very good. If you don’t plan on having the tasting menu, have dinner elsewhere bc it nice but limited and not enough food for the guy in my group. The most filling item was the kids steak meal which was delicious!

Amazing! World class and luxury experience. Super relaxing. Angel at front desk at Bella at spa were great.

We especially enjoyed the beautifully designed and tended grounds of this location. We'll worth exploring every path and corner!

Redwoods on the hotel territory, nice and quiet place to walk, yoga classes Staff aren’t welcoming and it felt like we burdened them with our presence. Conflicting information was provided on the reasons and timing for the Lodge closure - we initially were given breakfast coupons, but then breakfast changed to oj, pastries and coffee in a tent instead of a restaurant. Ants in the room - I understand it’s forest, but there were too many. Hot tub was closed for half of the day due to some chemical imbalance. Despite them heavily advertising on social media and showing a nice picture there is nothing much to do and nowhere to eat in our case. The price we paid for this experience doesn’t make any sense to me. Very disappointing.

Dawn Ranch is a gorgeous property — beautifully designed, relaxed, and quintessentially Northern California. It’s a wonderful place for families (we had a 3 yo and 5 mo baby) who want to enjoy a peaceful, nature-filled getaway together. The river access is easy and safe for kids, and the wide open lawn is perfect running, playing, or simply soaking in the beautiful setting. The cabins are stylish yet comfortable, and the whole atmosphere feels serene and restorative. That said, while it’s great for families, it’s not particularly family-centered. There are no kids’ menus, no special children’s programming, and few amenities specifically geared toward little ones. It’s more of a “bring the kids along” destination than a resort that makes them a top priority. By contrast, if you want a place where kids are truly front and center, Carmel Valley Ranch is hard to beat. It offers a similar NorCal casual-chic luxury vibe, but with a much stronger family focus — from the welcome packets for kids to the Nuna strollers, cribs, and high chairs, plus kids’ menus and a full lineup of family activities. In short, Dawn Ranch is perfect if you’re after a tranquil, design-forward retreat that still works beautifully for families. But if you want a stay where kids are the top priority, I think Carmel Valley Ranch delivers that experience with ease.
