ホテル ロス カラコレス(Hotel Los Caracoles)

Regular modest Baja California hotel. Clean. A/c. Usually an English-speaker at the front desk. Helpful staff. Adjacent to a restaurant that serves pizza, salads, and other foods. Plus it has a good coffee shop with breakfast and pastries options. To the west and a few minutes walk is the Malarrimo Restaurant which is finer dining, with typically good seafood and professional service.

Nice motel. Clean, comfortable. Parked in front of our room, no coffee maker, fridge, or micro. Got coffee across the street at the gas station. Restaurant opened at 6am and served great breakfast and dinner, although you can walk anywhere to eat or stroll. Rafa, the receptionist, spoke excellent English and can arrange whale watching.

This hotel is clean and fairly quiet. It was a nice stop during a long drive. The staff was very helpful. All the staff we met with spoke limited English, and with my limited Spanish we made it work. All in all an enjoyable overnight. We will stay here again on our return drive.

The room was very basic and there were some broken fixtures in the bathroom. This hotel would have certainly been adequate for $35 a night but $80 for this room was way over priced. We found very nice rooms on this Baja trip for under $40. The internet said a room was $39 but the hotel clerk charged $80. We felt we were taken advantage of.

Had someone pound on our door at 4AM, guy claimed to be from the local Cartel and needed to perform An inspection to ensure that none of the guest were armed or meant harm to their local presence/organization; the ordeal lasted @ 2 hours, police showed up but we no sirens, And the person that knocked on our door apparently took off in his vehicle (not sure if he was followed by the police) Other guest endured the same extorsión attempt, some Of the hang up the phone, did not open the door and some were in the process of behind swichted to a different location. We believe us and the other guest were extremely fortunate to have this ended with no one harm and just having to cancel out social media account and notifying loves ones to disregard any ransom or money requests on our behalf. It is imperative that the hotel implements security measures that ensure the safety of their guest and their employees. After speaking with friends, this appears to be a recurrent trend all over the península, we were advised of similar recent incidents in Ensenada en Catavina. Stay safe!
