ビレッジ バイ ザ ガルフ(Village by the Gulf)

We didn't mind that this condo was not super updated but it could've been better with a little more attention to detail. The location is decent- easy 2 block walk to beach access. Parking is convenient. Next door to a convenience market. Playground area for kiddos and a pool. What lacked was pillowcases for the extra pillows, hangers in the guest bedrooms, a blanket for the king bed (coverlet and sheet only). Several things were also just not functional, like one of the lamps in the master bedroom, the laundry room door and a closet door. One of the bedrooms was missing a light cover (it was in the closet). Kitchen lacked some basics too- a few more bowls, some containers with lids, an Ice cream scoop and a pizza cutter would've been nice additions. Some things were worn (like the bed coverlets and furniture) but we managed just fine and enjoyed our vacation. We had a great time and these annoyances didn't derail us. It is always preferable to have 3 bedrooms and 2 baths for a vacation rather than a hotel room...and, I didn't see ANY cockroaches!!!! A HUGE relief for me

Beds were excellent but that's where it ends. No elevator, not enough dishes or utensils in the kitchen. Room slept 8 but there was only enough seating in kitchen for 5 to eat at a time and only 4 plates. Beach access is 2 blocks away instead of right across the street.

The floors sagged all over the unit, furniture is very old, lighting is atrocious. Place needs a complete refurbishing. The one redeeming feature used to be easy beach access, that is now blocked off.

Pros: across the street from the beach, private parking under the building. Cons: very tight parking for larger vehicles, no elevator, building in sad shape, window screens torn. Upon entering we were hit with a nauseating strong smell of presumed cleaner, saw first dead roach immediately. I think my pictures can tell the rest. We belong to Global Discovery Vacations and disappointed to know they have lowered their standards to this. The carpets were dirty, any tiled area was sticky as well as torn. The bathrooms were beyond gross. The appliances in kitchen were greasy and not clean. The floor was so slanted that the bedroom doors needed a prop to stay open. I found a sewing needle on the floor between the 2 twin beds, I saw it immediately so not sure if room was swept how it could not have been seen. We did not want to sit on the dirty furniture. The baseboards appeared to have never been wiped down and hall wall appeared to have something splashed all over it like a can of soda was dropped and never wiped off. We paid an additional “resort” fee while booking, not sure what for? There was no liquid dish soap, they supply 1 packet of dishwasher soap, 1 packet of soap for washing machine, 1 bag only in trash can, no clothes hangers, pillows were stained and flat. I immediately put all dishes, silverware and cookware in the dishwasher, went to the Dollar Store and bought dish soap and cleaning supplies. After driving 9 hours the last thing I wanted to do was clean. The pool area looked nice, it was to cold to use and pool is not heated. The putt putt area was in very bad shape, the grills are charcoal, you supply what you need for that. A dumpster is at the far end of the property and is your responsibility to remove all trash when vacating the property. The office staff works limited hours. I don’t need management to respond with this is not our normal whatever, just look at the pictures and clean this place, these are just a few of the pictures, I would be happy to send more. Gulf Shores is beautiful with sugar white beach’s and crystal clear Gulf waters. I would return to Gulf Shores but would not return to Village by the Gulf as a choice of accommodations.

The building really shows its wear, with peeling paint, sagging floors and taped together electrical cords. The dishes, pots and kitchen utensils were the cheapest. This 3 bedroom unit had only 4 dinner plates in the cupboard! Will not stary here again and do not recommend it.

When we got here we first noticed how dirty the place is. There was a funky smell as well. The sheets weren’t clean, found several hairs that weren’t ours throughout the sheets. The bathrooms and kitchen were also very dirty. The icing on the cakes was that we had to kill several roaches and the office staff was difficult to get ahold of. We drove 13 hours with two young kids to get here. This is the last thing we wanted to deal with. Very disappointed and will NEVER come back. 100% do not recommend.

Love this place it would get 5 if it were not across the street from the beach... Only the beach front should be 5 stars. This place was great. We loved it and it slept 5 perfectly. We loved the beach and it was just a short walk.

Outside of this property is just fine. Kind- of cute. No view. But, the ocean is literally right across the street. Very easy access to the beach. Inside. the unit was extremely outdated, with torn up carpet, uncomfortable beds, and retro 60-70 dated furnishings. Very outdated, and the carpet looks disgusting.

Although this is an older resort the units are spacious, well maintained and very clean. The furniture is very comfortable. The manager was very helpful and friendly. The pool and bbq area were great. The location was excellent! The beach is across the street and public access is close by. There is a great walking, jogging, or biking path behind the resort which we took advantage of. There was a convenience store, a seafood market (they would even prepare it for you) and a wonderful seafood restaurant next store.
