It’s a beautiful place, but the trip started with our party of 6 booked on ******* being told that we reserved rooms that were for adults only and we had 2 kids. The booking was accurate and I did confirm 2 children, and only at check-in were we informed it was not OK. They had to cancel one of our pool side rooms and put us upstairs in a standard king room, and I was separated from my family. This was an error on Expedia’s side, as the booking was confirmed and allowed with our 2 children. The hotel was gracious and cancelled one room and replaced it at the lower rate, and made an exception for our one almost-adult aged child. The restaurants were clean, staff was very kind and attentive, and the rooms were Marriott quality. The “sofa bed” in the standard king room was a twin sized couch, not a pull-out, and we had to request extra blankets and pillows since there were none that came in the room as standard. There is no hot tub, which would have been nice during the cool evenings (pools close at 11pm, but it rained every night so we didn’t get to enjoy). The bugs come out at night, and will eat you alive if you venture to the beach or away from the main grounds after sunset. The resort is not close to town, but we had a car and decided to go eat at a place called Koko’s on the beach which was delicious and reasonably priced since there is no ocean side dining anywhere at the resort. Overall, I was looking for more of a cultural experience which was not what we got. 3/5 stars
