It’s a shame we can’t give more than 5 stars for exceptional places like Sheila’s. We stayed in her Bakki Garden room for 2 nights overlooking the lovely Dunnet Bay. This mini-cottage has parking directly out front and huge floor to ceiling windows to enjoy the view from inside, and a good sized decking area outside with 2 different types of seating to enjoy it from outside. The main living area has a huge and most comfortable bed, large dressing table, a large, and again, comfy settee, small dining table and chairs. There is a small kitchen up one end which has been provided with large fridge, coffee machine, kettle, sink and all the dishes/cutlery/cups/glasses you need. The bathroom is very roomy with a huge walk-in shower and double sink. Lots of space to put our toiletries. The shower is one of the best we’ve had whilst holidaying. The garden room had been done to a very high standard with very high quality fixtures and fittings. The place looked like an interior designer had done it. I don’t know what the building had been made of, but on our second night a storm was raging outside, but we couldn’t tell inside with the curtains closed as it was so quiet. On arrival Sheila greeted us and showed us round. There were welcoming scones in the kitchen and lots of information on the local area. Breakfast was brought to us in our garden room both days, so we could enjoy it looking out over the bay. Lovely, tasty big breakfasts with everything we needed to set us up for the day. Sheila couldn’t have done more for us whilst we were there. Our trip to Orkney was very early, so she provided us breakfast at 7am on our first morning. When visiting the restaurant next door she came out to show us the shortcut through the garden to it. It’s just a shame we were not staying here longer. We can’t recommend this place highly enough.
