First-class hotel with a wonderful, warm and caring staff. A beautiful, lovingly maintained and exquisitely decorated space, gorgeous rooms, fantastic breakfast, superb amenities - a simply perfect little spot in Hondarribia! We will be back!

Absolutely wonderful stay at this boutique Villa... The facilities are top quality and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful! The breakfast service is fantastic and we had dinner there once, which was very good but a bit over-priced. Marta and Maite provide d excellent service to us during our 2 night stay!

Beautifully restored old villa, which has become a boutique small hotel. Some aspects were gorgeous, e.g. very comfy bed, lovely linen, and well appointed bathroom. Parking (at cost) possible in the garden. Delightful, very friendly staff. But just a few things went less well. Heating controlled at reception, in theory not a problem, but, if you prefer a cool bedroom for sleeping, be prepared for a VERY cold bathroom in the morning. Breakfast felt just a touch too “manicured” and fussy, for example with a variety of bread/brioche/cake options - but as we don’t eat the last two items, would have preferred to have been able to choose. Presentation impeccable, but fine dining portions - made smaller by the items we couldn’t eat! Offered cheese and ham, and surprised that it wasn’t Spanish ham. Appreciate that this near the border it really does cater to a French clientele, with prices reflecting this. Certainly this is not a cheap option. Was it worth it? For us the jury’s out.

We read the great reviews and decided to stay enroute to the South. This lovely hotel did not disappoint. It is immaculately stylish, spotlessly clean and in a great location. We had reserved a spot in their secure car park which was €15 per night. The charming Alba checked us in and our room was lovely. It is so beautifully maintained everything seemed new! Comfy bed, great shower and efficient aircon too. It is a short walk to the lift that takes you up to the picturesque old town. We stayed on a Sunday which meant we could not try the restaurant (closed Sundays) but the hotel had recommended & booked a great restaurant for us in the lovely old square, just an easy 5 minutes walk away. We will stay again and highly recommend Villa Magalean.

Fantastic hotel in every way - best place to stay in Hondaribbia. The ambiance was very pleasant, staff attentive, Mahasti wine bar had fantastic food for breakfast and dinner and extensive and good wine list. 5 stars all round. We’ll be back

Villa Magalean is a superb under the radar boutique hotel in the charming village of Hondarribia. This small gem pays attention to every detail. Our room was quite spacious and beautifully appointed. Fantastic bathroom. The common rooms are lovely as well as the outdoor garden. Everything is beautifully decorated. Very high class. Breakfast was served at the hotel's restaurant and it was great. Fresh and delicious. We also had dinner one evening at the hotel which was very good. The staff is kind and helpful to you in any way. They suggested restaurants and booked for us. I highly recommend this fantastic hotel.

This is a hidden gem of a hotel. It is a small 8 room boutique hotel which has been restored to a very high standard, it is impeccable clean and everything well presented. We have returned back to the hotel and it was just as good as the first time. Parking is available at the hotel can be pre-booked at a small fee, well worth it in Hondarribia as parking is always at a premium. Rooms are comfortable, quiet and have all amenities. Staff were helpful and knew all details of your trip. A lovely breakfast service, cooked fresh and quality food. Will definitely be back.

Très belle demeure dans un quartier résidentiel de Hondarribia, magnifiques chambres lumineuses et élégantes ( décoration, literie, robinetterie), personnel souriant, aimable et à l'écoute. En revanche, la formule petit déjeuner exclus des basiques: d'un hotel espagnol de cette catégorie et de la région basque (par expérience) et tire sur le porte monnaie des clients d'une manière peu élégante: - les oeufs sont payants (+ 6 euros) - le jambon ibérique est payant ( +12 euros) - 1 seul fruit proposé (du kiwi et rien d'autre) - 1 seule variété de fromage proposée - les thés de la marque Richard sont connus pour leur qualité médiocre -le jambon blanc est de qualité moyenne et à la coupe industrielle Autres points pas à la hauteur de la catégorie de l'hôtel et quelque peu surprenants: 1/ dépôt de garantie de 250 euros demandé lors du check in pour couvrir toute éventuelle détérioration de la chambre, du jamais vu dans d'hôtellerie haut de gamme 2/ parking de l'hôtel payant à hauteur de 15 euros par nuit 3/ pas de lait corporel dans la salle de bain 4 / papier hygiénique bas de gamme (papier recyclé) 5/ serviettes de bain montrant des signes d'usure marqués 6 / non lié à la catégorie : éclairage au dessus du lit pas assez lumineux (appliques trop petites)

Très bel hôtel. La chambre Guetaria est accueillante, joliment décorée, bien insonorisée et le couchage est très confortable. Le personnel est souriant et francophone. Seul bémol, quelques radineries sur le surplus de prix : 15€/j pour garer la voiture 5€ de plus pour charger en électricité, 6€ pour compléter le petit déjeuner d'une omelette. Pour un hôtel de ce niveau, ces rajouts devraient être inclus.
