Amazing stay in a fantastic ambiance and surroundings. The small chateaux is a fantastic place, beautifully restored and loaded with family history from Gael and Cecile. We had the room in the annex which is big and comfy and the bathroom is massive- a true salle de bain. The estate is in immaculate condition due to the passion and hard-work of Gael and his daily tour of the place is a must-do. Very helpful in guiding the area, making reservations etc. All in all we had a fantastic time

Probably the best part of our 3 week trip throughout France in 2023. Gaël and Cécile along with their team were the most gracious & accommodating anyone could be. With this being the first time the Loire Valley, we did a lot of exploring in the beautiful countryside. That being said, I'd go back in a heart beat and spend much more time to relax at the chateau itself. Highly, highly recommend and plan to return in the future.

Magical stay at a fabulous chateau in beautiful grounds. The team were amazing, incredibly welcoming and helpful and we even had a tour of the chateau with information about the history of the area. Great breakfast. Lovely comfortable drawing room with log burner and the bedroom was beautiful.

As we drove through the gates of Chateau des Grotteaux we were greeted by a carpet of cyclamen flowering in the woodland adjacent to the drive. A delightful small chateau owned by Gael and Cecile who were happy to chat and tell us about the local area and history of the building. We stayed for two nights and each morning there was a delicious buffet breakfast, fresh fruits, yoghurts, various cheeses and homemade jams of course with fresh bread and croissants. Our room, Zeus, was spotlessly clean, lovely crisp white bedlinen and a large ensuite bathroom. Views from the bedroom window across fields towards the river and in the distance we spotted several hot air balloons over the Loire valley. My friend Julie and I decided to head for Chateau de Cheverny which was well worth a visit and only about a 20 min drive away. Much larger Chateau de Chambord is only a 5 min drive. We would definitely highly recommend Chateau des Grotteaux and hope to visit again on our next trip to the Loire valley.

My only disappointment was that we couldn’t stay longer! My mom and I had changed our itinerary slightly and confirmed our stay only 2 days prior - we were so lucky there was availability as Chateau de Grotteaux is almost always booked up far in advance! We booked thru bookings but lower rates may be available if you book direct! We arrived in late afternoon in time for Gael to give us a tour of the beautiful chateau and to participate in a wine tasting in the cellar (40 euros). We stayed in the Zeus room - large, comfortable room with a spacious and modern bathroom. They helped coordinate a dinner reservation for us in Blois as we hadn’t made one prior and provided us with useful tips and suggestions prior to our arrival. It was a wonderful stay in a unique and special location. Thank you!

Grotteaux is for the seasoned traveler who appreciates a small boutique hotel experience with all the amenities of comfort, elegance, privacy, history and personal engagement from the proprietors. My wife and I were hesitant to leave after feeling at home and relaxed in this gorgeous chateau. The owners Gael and Cecile put their hearts and savings in restoring this gem which should be on the top of your lists for choices of where to stay in the Loire Valley. It was at one time an important library and you can feel the centuries of time that has past in the walls and decor. We plan to return next year for sure and would consider any season. There are only a few rooms so plan early.

Beautifully restored chateau with gracious hosts Gael and Cecile. Our Richelieu Suite was lovely and tranquil. Our stay was short but we absolutely look forward to returning in the near future. Certainly one highlight was the chateau tour by Gael and the walk through history. He is a charming story teller! Charming hosts Cecile and Gael restored their castle perfectly, blending its classical elegance with all modern conveniences, in exquisite and refined taste. They were happy to provide much useful information which helped us plan our activities. We appreciated the sumptuous, delicious breakfasts, served buffet-style in a gorgeous, spacious salon. The adjacent library was relaxing and comfortable, with ample reading materials. Our bedroom was large, well designed and beautifully appointed, with noble finishes and many fluffy towels. The property was extensive, with gardens, magnificent trees and a wonderful, oversized pool. In short, everything contributed to a splendid visit in this most beautiful part of the Loire Valley.
