Staff seemed unaware that I was staying there. The placewas in complete darkness at 8-30 p.m., it was Sunday. Generally appeared that pub business was more important than hotel.

A good welcome and the room was well decorated and very comfortable. Good menu in the restaurant- good food

A lovely well situated pub. Good food and good service. My only criticism would be the breakfast. An all in one package for guests would be good rather than having to pay for each item, even the coffee.

Very friendly staff. Easy to park. Nice walk into town Food was fab. Nice a**osphere Continental Breakfast was great. Couldn’t have done more for me.

Nice pub, plenty of parking, good range of beers. Rooms are large, can be a little cold, being next to the main railway line means trains rumble past through the night. Food was average, lumpy mash. No breakfast until 9am so if you're there on business you probably won't get any except the cold buffet left outside the rooms. Lovely staff.

The Railway is a lovely little pub and hotel offering clean and comfortable rooms and fantastic food. The staff have a great attention to detail and very welcoming and friendly too. My second visit here and won’t be my last. It’s a great location with easy access to Ipswich centre and the east cost. Thank you !

I wasn't sure what to expect from this establishment but everything was terrific. Travelling on a great value two month 1st class Eurailpass, I arrived by Greater Anglia train punctual to the minute and walked 150 metres. The pleasant lady owner stored my case. Arriving back at 1900 on a Friday night, the bar was humming. I enjoyed a delicious seafood platter, although it lacked large prawns as I am used to in Australia and Philippines. It had a good amount of salad. Food has improved in England from my first visit 30 tears ago when dining was poor. The accommodation is not suitable for the disabled as stairs are steep. The room was spacious and delightful with the feminine touch evident in the bee theme even on the doona cover. There were two chairs, classy furniture, excellent lighting and a TV. Lamps were trendy. No aircon so on a 29 degree day the room might be stuffy. A wide range of breakfast items were supplied including yoghurt. Some were in the fridge in the corridor. The bathroom also had great shower gel and shampoo plus even cotton ear buds. Shower pressure was reasonable and hot water sufficient. Towels were good but no bathmat. One mosquito greeted me at dawn. It was dealt with. There was some intruding light early evening as no blackout curtains in the bathroom or to the side of the bed. Great to see the intermodal Freightliner and GBRailFreight trains belting through Westerfield, keeping trucks with their cowboy drivers off the congested roads. The owners here have done a great job with the hotel that at GBP60 was great value.

We were going to an event nearby and needed a place to stay overnight. Didn't have much expectation here. But The Railway Inn was excellent. We had lunch on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday. The food was excellent, a good choice and ample portions. Service was warm and friendly. Our overnight stay was very comfortable - the room was large and newly decorated. Spacious bathroom with ample towels provided. Highly recommended

Stayed here for one night to attend a birthday celebration in Ipswich. I cannot recommend it highly enough. When we arrived we were given the warmest welcome shown to our lovely rooms. It was a beautiful day so we spent the afternoon in the beer garden & had something to eat. The staff were very friendly the service was excellent & I cannot fault it. I can't wait for another family get together so we can return.
