Due to a missed flight, I was stranded in Istanbul just past midnight with the next flight due 9 hours later. I was travelling with my son who had developed gastroenteritis. While at the airport; I used the trip.com app to book this hotel at a cost of 73 euros. We took a taxi and turned up within 20 minutes. Hotel explained that that my booking was for the next day (this was the only date option in the app). I asked if they could give me a room for one day earlier - they said they had vacancies and I would have to pay them directly 110 euros and that I should cancel the previous booking directly with trip.com, I was so tired and fed up I said that was fine. So I proceeded to cancel the hotel and selected ‘hotel agreed to cancel’ at which point the manager told me to leave! At which point he pushed me too! I was prepared to pay extra money to the hotel directly I didn’t know what the issue was? This was all very strange and my 9 year old son is watching this unfold :(
So having been kicked out of the hotel, I then had to find another hotel and he eventually got to sleep at 2am and then we left for the airport at 6am. In end I paid for 2 hotels for 4 hours sleep.
The hotelier is a **** and a thief. Their level of professionalism is not in line with what we get in Europe or the West. I would highly recommend you avoid this hotel as if anything goes wrong, you will not get any support or empathy.
I have escalated this complaint and I will be writing several reviews to highlight this extreme behaviour. To put your hands on someone and use physical pressure is inexcusable.
