We loved this hotel and wish we had more than just 1 night. It’s a beautiful villa in wonderful jungle setting, the views in the morning were stunning. The staff were so helpful and attentive and we had dinner on the veranda, which was the best Sri Lankan curry we had eaten all holiday! The rooms are exceptional, the beds super comfy. A real treat of a stay and our only regret was not staying longer and having time to enjoy the gardens and pool. A real haven of peace in the busy Kandy area.

We recently stayed at this amazing small boutique hotel, set on a hillside above Kandy it is like a little oasis of calm. The staff are brilliant and very helpful and we both felt extremely relaxed. The food was great and we would both highly recommend the Sri Lankan curry. View from breakfast is beautiful and there is a pool area to chill at.

The most tranquil setting. Decor traditional yet blended with contemporary to give a very relaxed non fussy feel. Immaculate and staff exceptional. Nothing a bother, food amazing. Recommend Sri Lanka curry. Pool area very low key but lovely.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Stone House. The welcome, the facilities, the view, the peace and the food were excellent. We benefitted from being the only guests on a Sunday evening so we have the undivided attention of the staff. Would recommend for a relaxing break away from the hustle and bustle.

An absolute gem of a boutique hotel. Beautifully decorated with a mid-century feel, organic and very much a blend and complement with it’s surroundings. From the moment you come into the open plan entrance with a carp pool and drift wood mobile you relax. The views are extraordinary - you can have every meal over-looking the hills of Kandy which is just magical. There is also a beautiful, secluded swimming pool to take the heat off after a day in town. We had it to ourselves the 2 afternoons we were there. There are only 5 rooms so nothing is busy. The staff cannot do enough for you - and they make a wicked G&T. But the food! Have a curry and you will not be disappointed. Absolutely delicious with at least 8 accompanying vegetarian sides. The vegetable salad is sublime. I could go on for ages about how delicious the food was but take it from me, a step above anything else I have had in Sri Lanka. I cannot recommend The Stone House more. It’s a very special place.

Stone House is perched on a hill above Kandy, set in a pretty garden. You can tell the place was once well loved, but it has not been maintained. The bedrooms and bathrooms were large and initially seemed well equipped. But, 1 set of my bathroom taps were broken, the bathroom rug was exceptionally dirty, the walls of the bedroom were soiled and dust and grime was everywhere. We had one dinner and one breakfast...meals were good but seemed relatively high priced compared to other options. I would not stay here again.

Was a lovely place to stay tucked up the hillside. Couldn’t complain about the service. We were the only people staying there which, for us, we found hard as the staff were very attentive. There was absolutely nothing wrong with anything, but we prefer a busier place or even somewhere with a couple of guests. We ate there both evenings and the food was great. This is out of kandy so not somewhere to stay if you want a feel for kandy. Overall, lovely stay, just not sure it was for us.

On our journey in Sri Lanka we have stayed in different types of hotels . Some of them luxurious - some of them cheap. Stone house was a little expensive - but not very expensive. The hotel in itself is located a little outside Kandy . Takes about 10-15 minutes to get to the center. The facilities are good - with a nice garden. The food they serve is banging . They can make exactly what you want and how you want it. The service from the staff was extraordinarily good. The guys managing the hotel went out of their way to help with all problems. It was even better than in the most luxurious hotels. It made us so happy to stay at Stone House. It might be a 4 or 5 star hotel . But the service here is TEN STARS

We stayed here for two nights, as a family of four in two bedrooms. The hotel was very small (5 rooms) and quiet with a very attentive team of staff, including Salman who always greeted us with a wide smile. The hotel is very close to the town yet you feel like you are out in the countryside with the amazing views from the outside dining area. Whilst there was an a la carte menu, we also had a lovely 7 dish Sri Lankan curry which was delicious. Breakfast was excellent and plentiful.

Stone House Kandy is a beautiful, peaceful haven away from the noise and chaos of Kandy city. The staff were quietly and efficiently attentive and we enjoyed the breakfast and dinner especially. We were upgraded to a suite which was beautiful, I enjoyed using the gorgeous bath. We were the only guests there for our 2 night stay and felt as if the house belonged to us! Would highly recommend.

We stayed here for two nights. Room was lovely and staff helpful although their English meant that it took time for them to understand my gluten free needs (despite a Sinhali translation). However on the second day delicious muffins appeared. Try the fish soup. It's divine. Stick to the curry and rice which is lovely and forget the European food which is overpriced and nowhere near as good as the curry. The visit was marred by charging us for a dish we both clearly didn't order. I ate two mouthfuls rather than waiting for the right dish to appear which was just an appetiser as we'd had a large lunch. Sincere apologies were forthcoming but the bill didn't take that into account. Such a disappointment to what would have been a lovely stay.

Dieses Haus wurde einst mit viel Liebe zum Detail eingerichtet. Es liegt in einem wunderschönen Garten mit einer traumhaften Aussicht. Inzwischen ist es jedoch in die Jahre gekommen und sehr abgelebt. Es wurde nie wieder etwas erneuert bzw. instand gesetzt. Alte, gräuliche Handtücher, nie gewaschene Bettüberwürfe und Vorhänge, stark verschmutzte Teppiche, Sitzgelegenheiten voller Flecken, flackernde Lichter, Lampen ohne Glühbirnen, Steckdosen mit Wackelkontakt, leerer Kühlschrank, miserables WLAN… Die Sauberkeit ist im ganzen Haus ein Problem: schmuddelige Böden, trübe Fensterscheiben, Spinnweben, Staubschichten, liderlich gereinigte Bäder, schmutziges Besteck - einfach nur eklig. Es fehlt hier jemand, der nach dem Rechten schaut. Die Angestellten sind zwar bemüht, erscheinen aber sehr überfordert und unprofessionell. Wir haben für den stolzen Preis etwas anderes erwartet. Schade um die schöne Location.
