ザ アンテミオン ハウス(The Anthemion House)

Very pleasant stay. Right in the center of Kavala on walking distance from the castle, the marina and from many many restaurants around. Very clean facilities. Very nice and friendly stuff. Comfortable beds and quiet place. Perfect breakfast.

The room, property and staff were friendly, helpful and informative and the junior suite was clean, quiet and very large with separate kitchen and dining table. The breakfast, pre-packed fresh pastries and fruit, was enough for my breakfast and lunch (good for day trips). The hotel was convenient to the castle and town center for me, but its location up the hill from the harbor may be difficult for those with walking limitations: sidewalks can be steep and roads must be crossed without crosswalks or traffic lights.

We chose this hotel mainly for its perfect location. It is within easy walking distance of everything we wanted to see in Kavala­­—aqueduct, old town, fortress, marina, Archaeological Museum, Tobacco Museum, Mehmet Ali House—and close to many fine restaurants as well. We had a suite, and enjoyed the extra space, lovely bathroom, kitchenette, small balcony, abundant outlets, and comfortable bed. The staff was wonderful. Maria gave us a map of Kavala, and spent a long time pointing out sights and recommending nearby restaurants. All the staff were super-helpful, and even gave us gifts on arriving and leaving. The breakfast was individually packed in a basket for us to take up to our room, a practice left over from Covid days. The amount of food was very generous, with a wide variety of tasty items. We could never finish it and often had leftovers for lunch. We had to make our own coffee, and felt compelled to wash all the breakfast dishes, though, so it was a bit more work than a regular buffet. The only downside to the hotel was the lack of elevator, and the need to use a long, winding exterior staircase, which would have been slippery when wet. We managed, but anyone with mobility challenges should definitely request Room 1 on the first floor, or choose another hotel. We were also surprised that the bathroom had no bar soap or towel bars, but that was a minor complaint. We loved The Anthemion House and would definitely stay there again.

Elegant and comfortable. Great bed: I slept for 10 hours. And lots of good things for breakfast, including excellent bread. Parking is close by and easy.

You can see the Anthemion House as you look down on Kavala from the Citadel and it stands out as an elegant period building. It’s in an attractive part of the city with restaurants and sights in easy reach. Inside it’s simple, but classy, and nicely kept. I enjoyed my helpful welcome from Vicki and a friendly farewell chat too. Parking, a couple of doors from the hotel, was easy to find and convenient and I appreciated being able to leave the car for a couple of hours after I checked out. I had a blissful 10 hours sleep on a very comfortable mattress (memory foam?) and woke up to a good blast of water from the waterfall shower. Lots of choice in the continental breakfast, rounded off with a good coffee. Delicious breads. I was only staying for one night, but would have been very happy staying here for a week.

Amazing! The location was perfectly situated close to downtown and the waterfront. I stayed in the suite on the 2nd floor. There was a bedroom, a sitting area, a kitchenette, and a comfortable bathroom. There was tons of storage. The service was top notch, breakfast was tasty, patio was cozy, views was unforgettable, and the hosts were as hospitable, knowledgeable, and courteous as could be!

What a remarkable place. Anthemion House is tucked away on a busy street near the port and ancient Roman aquaduct. It is fresh and modern inside and spotless. When we arrived, we experienced a warm welcome with chilled pomegranate juice. We were given a full explanation of our rooms and then a tour of the facilities. We were with a friend and stayed in the two suites on the 2nd floor. They were actually 2 bedroom apartments with full kitchen, large bath, luxurious beds, towels and bedding. The hotel has lots of windows and you can hear the sea gulls if your windows are open, or if you choose to sit on the patio outside your room. Breakfast is unique. We picked up our breakfast basket made by Maria and also a cappuchino which we took up to our patio. The basket included amazing locally made yogurt and preserves (which we combined), freshly baked breaks and pastries, a boiled egg and slices of ham and cheese. It was more than enough for us so we took the extras and will enjoy them for lunch today. It was truly one of the nicest and friendliest places we have ever stayed.

There was tons of storage and enough room for two people who had separate things to attend to to stay out of each other’s way. The service was spectacular, breakfast was pretty good, and Vicki was an incredible hoot of a hostess. If I return to Greece, I’ll be going to Kavala, and I will absolutely stay here.
