We had wonderful experience here with our two little kids! Nice pool, nice environment. It felt like a total immersion in nature surrounded by the well arranged trees, plants and flowers. Staff were very friendly and responsive. Hotel manager was very helpful with providing tourism advice and bookings. If we ever come back to Kep, we’ll for sure stay at Tara!

"Une cage 'écolo-bobo' pour termites" Ne vous fiez pas aux photos. Derrière le vernis esthétique se cache une gestion désastreuse. Une chambre sans fenêtre sur le jardin, une salle de bain aux finitions "bricolage" et, clou du spectacle : une tête de lit littéralement dévorée par les termites. Dormir sur une planche de bois avec un sur-matelas symbolique n'a rien d'écologique, c'est simplement du mépris pour le client. Quant à la restauration, passer 3 jours à Kep sans voir l'ombre d'un fruit de mer est une prouesse en soi. Le concept de "respect de la nature" a bon dos quand il sert à justifier un jardin plongé dans l'obscurité totale la nuit et un confort rudimentaire. Une très grande déception. J'oubliais de préciser que j'ai demandé le remboursement de mes nuitées. Après accord avec le patron , refus total avec la demande de trip. Ces derniers ont été corrects et m'ont remboursé presque deux nuits sur trois , mais pas ma nuit blanche ;-) et le mal de dos carabiné.

Lovely, quiet place with bungalows surrounding an excellent pool. If you book a room on the upper levels of the bungalows, then you are high amongst the trees which is a joy. All of the rooms have balconies and areas to sit and relax. Lionel is the French owner who was super helpful … organizing a couple of days Remorque (tuk tuk) excursions around Kep which we really enjoyed. $40 / day with English speaking driver called Su Kim who was really fun and explained various things to us en route. Tara Lodge itself is about 10 - 15 mins walk to the crab market . Kimly restaurant which is a 5 min walk from the market is by far the best resto along the sea front. Get there early, grab a table on the open veranda looking out over the sea - and watch the sun set. Perfect evening. Just a couple of small things - bathrooms a little tired, and breakfast could be improved. But - definitely worth a stay and great value.

Called in for lunch today looking for something different as we have been eating rice and noodles for the last two weeks. Menu was presented looked nice and stylish. Chose a couple of beers from a pleasant French lady, possibly Tara A Caesar’s salad and a tuna baguette. The French lady apologised and said they didn’t have a proper caesars salad dressing but it was close. On arrival the c salad had no garlic croutons the lady came hastily back and said the chef hadn’t put in any bread and would bring it shortly, it duly arrived “a slice of toast cut into cubes” In addition to no croutons there was no bacon, no anchovies, very little chicken and an enormous pile of lettuce and onion and a boiled egg. The dressing didn’t resemble anything near c s dressing and very little of it . In fact we had a very sparse egg and chicken salad no frills The tuna on the baguette appeared to have been applied with a paintbrush it was so thin appearances can deceptive Tara’s lodge certainly was

Tara Lodge is gorgeous, quiet, well located, the service impeccable, and couldn’t ask for more. It feels like you’re in a lodge paradise in the middle of a forest yet if you want to visit Kep town, Fish Island, a café, a restaurant, Chinese New Year festivities, you are literally a 5 minute Tuk Tuk ride away.

The hotel clearly needs improvement- the bathroom is not a bathroom. The shower is old and impossible to manage, the door doesnt close and the TV doesnt work. When you are on vacation what you want is something that eases your experience. We left the hotel the next day and didnt ask for a refund. We booked 4 nights. Other than that the owners and the staff were very kind.

Superb stay by the sea! I loved this beautiful hotel. It is kinda tucked away and idyllic. Very comfortable and quiet rooms; lovely pool; great drinks including the mocktails and home made jam in the delicious breakfast! Couldn’t ask for more! I’d definitely recommend!

We loved our stay at Tara Lodge. Jim and Vireak have created a wonderfully peaceful environment and it definitely lived up to the name 'Haven of Peace'. The breakfasts were amazing and freshly made to order every day, with a different freshly squeezed fruit juice. The staff all work very hard. We love a bit of bird watching and it was a great place for that. The pool was really inviting and the perfect temperature, it's described as a salt water pool but it didn't feel or taste at all salty (in a good way). Jim and Vireak were very helpful in suggesting things to do during our stay and also helping with advice for the next part of our trip and helping arrange onward travel. We particularly appreciate the efforts to reduce plastic usage, it was a shock during our time in SE Asia the overuse of plastic everywhere we went. The lodge are doing everything they can to reduce this. Every hotel we stayed in during our travels gave us 2 small bottles of water every day, which isn't enough to get by so you still end up having to buy more plastic bottles. At Tara Lodge they provide you with a jug and have a free filtered water machine in reception that you can refill as much as you like. As a result of this our time in Kep was the only place that we didn't buy a single bottle of water. It was very noticeable the different this made. I wish other hotels would make this simple change.
