ヒルトップ モーテル(Hilltop Motel)

Plenty of choices for places to stay in Kingston, but we needed a budget motel due to a lot of near-term traveling. Hilltop Motel had decent reviews, so we tried it for our one night stay in town. Yes, it's a no-frills older motel, but our room was nicely updated, the beds were very comfortable, and the room was surprisingly quiet for being just off a very busy road; the only noise was an occasional snowplow clearing that busy street during a late-March snowstorm, and a train horn at a not-too-distant grade crossing (but it wasn't blaring, just mildly noticeable). The only complaint we had was that the mock-wood floor was gritty throughout and needed a good sweeping, vacuuming and mopping. Granted, it's a challenge to keep floors clean during a Canadian winter when the room exits right to the parking lot. But instead of simply making noise about this in a post-stay review, my wife spoke to management when we checked out to let them know the floor needed attention. Hopefully, they will pay closer attention to the floor (the rest of the room was clean). We would stay here again if we are in the Kingston area, but the floor best be clean.

The room had everything I needed and to make me comfortable. I have already recommended it to other travellers!

Older motel type building. A bit noisy at night and limited restaurants around.

The room was clean and the bed comfortable but the price for a very old drive up motel was way out of proportion to what it was. Wasn’t anything near a super8 or other affordable hotel/motel and was twice the price. I think that it was inflated for the long weekend and moving kids into university but absolutely ridiculously high prices.

It did the job. It is run down but It was clean. Bed was uncomfortable. Overpriced for what it was due to being a Friday of a long weekend and university move in day. Should have been under $100.

The wifi sometimes was a little slow

Clean and well maintained

One night stay mid-week. Booked directly over the phone relatively last minute. Room is fine, old and worn in some areas but clean and well appointed. Air conditioner is super loud and drowns out the TV a bit. Wifi internet worked. Fridge was clean and worked well. Queen bed is fine but we are not small people and it had a bit of a dip in the middle - I assume the result of mostly single people that sleep in the middle - so my wife and I kept rolling into each other a bit. (We try to get kind beds most places for context.) Staff was friendly. For the money I might stay again but for us I might opt for two qeens. Location is a bit out from downtown if you don't want to drive everywhere but worked well for us this trip.

Great place for an economical stay. A bit out-dated, but friendly staff and fridge & microwave in room were nice bonuses
