We stayed at Bloom Boutique Waterfront Kochi from 7th to 9th November and booked two rooms – a Traders Room and a Waterfront Suite. Despite being advertised as a 4-star hotel, the experience felt closer to a 2-star stay. While the hotel has charming old-world décor and a lovely view, poor upkeep and lack of quality control overshadow everything. Problems we encountered included: - Poor quality breakfast with very limited options Mold on bread served on the first morning (staff said it wasn’t expired but “weren’t sure what happened”) - Power cuts and brief water issues - Non-functioning TV satellite box - Bathroom main light failure in the Waterfront Suite - Fan switch coming off - Broken toilet seat in Traders Room - Chipped cups and loose door handles - Missing window handles - Cobwebs throughout rooms - Dirt and peeling paint in the suite - Extremely thin, worn-out bed linens and pillow covers - Only one thin pillow per guest - Patio umbrellas covered in green algae, reflecting the lack of basic cleaning and upkeep Although staff were polite and attempted to help when issues were pointed out, guests should not have to continually highlight basic maintenance problems. There’s a clear difference between “vintage charm” and sheer neglect — and sadly this hotel falls into the latter category. The aesthetic appeal cannot make up for the poor management and condition of the property. Not worth the price or the rating. Would not recommend unless serious improvements are made.
