This is a lovely new ryokan in an old tea house. So it is in the middle of a busy entertainment district. Also it is very close to Shimbashi - a truly beautiful street old world street that runs along the small city rivulet. Pros: close by to downtown Kyoto, nightlife, Gion and Higashiyama. Cons: can be a little noisy from the bars. But not a biggie . No dining on site but the associated restaurant is awesome. The ryokan is well appointed. Very comfy beds, tatami flooring, coffee and tea making facilities and an exquisite wooden bath. The rooms look out onto a pleasant Japanese garden. The staff are friendly and efficient. They organised a bentoo breakfast box for me and calling a taxi was no problem. A great stay.
