Le Manoir Des Portes Lamballe A jewel in the Brittany countryside 910303749 Outstanding in every way. Beautiful location, wonderful service and superb food and accommodation. Located in stunning woodland on the edge of a village close to Lamballe, our hosts could not do too much to ensure our one-night stay was perfect. A jazz concert was happening on the lake next to the hotel which complemented the whole experience. Great walks and bike rides on the doorstep. A real find.

As we were visiting the Mathurin Méheut museum we decided to overnight at this hotel in a historic building. It is the absolute summum of peace and tranquillity in the midst of an estate with a large pond nearby. Despite a return to normal Breton temperatures (cool evenings) we ate outside with the only noise being the joyous sound of the owners grandchildren playing in the distance. The situation is particular at the moment as the restaurant is shut as the company running the hotel and restaurant pulled out at the beginning of the season. The owners of the place decided to take it on until a new lease could be arranged. Thus it is the charming owners who are running the place and the standards remain high. The restaurant being shut, evening meals are on the table d'hôte basis with a fixed menu, and a very good one it was too. We had a wonderful stay and looking forward to saying hello to Yvon on a next visit, even if he and his wife will hopefully have gone back to their retirement and left someone else to manage the place.

My husband and I actually followed Carole (Manageress) and her husband (the truly fantastic chef) around Brittany, in the knowledge that wherever they were, the standard of accommodation and quality of the food would be superb, and we have never been disappointed. The staff are fantastic, nothing is too much trouble, everything is spotlessly clean, and the food is a true gastronomic experience, and so beautifully presented. We were amazed that they were able to keep the place running throughout the two years of Covid lockdowns, and even more amazed when we were told the hotel was being closed at the end of June, at the start of the season. I wonder why, I suppose there must be a good reason for doing so, but what a disappointment, it was a real shock to know we couldn’t return as usual in th autumn. The first time we came here we had a ground floor room, subsequently we have had a lovely large roo, over the breakfast room, and overlooking the beautiful gardens. It is pure bliss to sit out on the terrace under the big parasols to eat one’s meals, the place is so quiet and peaceful, is it any wonder we kept returning, sadly no more.

Nous avons été reçus très chaleureusement, avec un grand sourire par le propriétaire des lieux, chambre très confortable, repas délicieux et de bons vins pour l'accompagner. Cheminée très agréable pour boire l'apéro ou on nous propose un choix de cocktail maison excellent. La charmante propriétaire nous a fait partager son histoire. Beaucoup de choses sont en prévision et nous y reviendrons certainement dans quelques mois pour profiter des extérieurs avec un temps meilleur. Nous conseillons cet endroit.

Belle demeure dans un cadre verdoyant et au calme, literie confortable assurant une nuit paisible, accueil chaleureux, cuisine savoureuse, service rapide, salle de réunion agréable, tout était réuni pour un rendez-vous professionnel de qualité. Merci car c'était vraiment top ! Je reviendrai !
