Good food and great service (especially from the two young waiting staff in black t-shirts working very hard in the restaurant on the Saturday evening, 4 May). Unfortunately the tables are very close together in the restaurant area making it difficult to manoeuvre around and also making the atmosphere very noisy from other diners' talking. The 'specials' were detailed in white writing on a mirror mounted high up on the wall which was illegible - this needs a rethink.

Stopped by for lunch. Staff was very polite. And they coped well with the power cut. But - the food was average and expensive with the £29 well done steak oozing blood. Other than a bowl of chips (great) there were no other sides - not even a mushroom, some vine tomatoes or some greenery. Presentation of the meal was poor and not somewhere I'd rush back to. Sorry "Stag' - but up your game for better feedback and repeat business!

I stopped in late afternoon to have a pint, sit down and relax and work on my travel journal. I sat at a table in the bar area and it was lovely. I wound up ordering a double cheeseburger and fries for dinner which is really expensive for what you’re getting, but was very tasty. Overall great experience but way too expensive for what you’re getting but that seems like the norm here in town.

The Stag is well situated in the main square at Stow with free parking outside. I was disappinted to sit for lunch in the bar area - as this was a hotel I had expected a proper resturant. The food, when served, was so smothered in sauce that you could not taste the flavour of the meat or fish. It did, however, have a gluten free menu. which was why we chose it. An average meal at a high price.

Warm welcome at check in. All staff were very friendly / intensive throughout our stay. on site car parking . Our room was clean/ comfortable. Little touches such as beautiful bathroom potions . Tea/ coffee & fresh milk / water. Breakfast was delicious - various choices. We dined one evening and the food was fantastic, a great menu. Would highly recommend this hotel , beautiful part of England & a bus ride away to other parts of the Cotswolds . We would stay there again!

Just wanted to say we had an amazing dinner at the stag the food was delicious, make sure you’re hungry as the portions are huge. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, so different to the meal at the porch house the previous night who were not that interested in serving us.

Very disappointed. Stayed in Roe. Very.tired room. View out of window on to fire escape. Paid £135. Steps to bathroom, not mentioned in description of the room, quite slippy, so not great if your elderly . Had to put light on to get up the steps, so, disturbing my husband. Breakfast not great. Bacon had been cooked, but chewy, and couldn't eat. Half a mushroom, half a tomato. Then to top it off, found a hair in my scrambled eggs!!😔

Top class service and quality - on both food and accommodation. Beautiful food - delicious flavours, great variety of dishes. Excellent value for money. James is a wonderful host and his team are a credit to him. Very comfortable room with great facilities. Can’t wait to stay again!

Visted today with my partner on a whim as we were driving through the village. 5* service 5* star food. Staff really easy going and happy to change dessert for us which was wonderful as my partner is fussy 🤣. Food was delicious and good portions. Clean throughout and the fireplace was wonderful. 1 million percent will be back again
