Piazza Mulino is well located close to the center of Matera within easy walking distance of the Sassi. It is a simple place, very clean, and comfortable. Great value for money.

Worst experience in staying in independent accommodation. Left in the rain for 1 hour. Tried 18 calls not answered A very unpleasant man turned up and yelled at us in Italian. We felt very intimidated. When we went out we believe someone entered the room and turned off all lights and heating. Nice room but it’s in an apartment not a hotel like pictures make you believe. Next morning 1/2 hour before check out we returned back and the angry man was waiting for us. Yelling about lights left on. This was a small bathroom light we’d missed when we went for a walk. He virtually threw us out of the hotel. Standing in front of the bedroom window making us very uncomfortable. Very very unpleasant stay.

Accomodation is situated a few minutes walk from the Sassi. The apartment is very comfortable and quite spacious. We did a self check-in which was very detailed and easy to follow.

Piazza Mulino 26 is in a very good location especially when you just have a few days in Matera. It is close by most the essentials: the Sassi is just some meters away, good restaurants, and cafes. it is also not far from the train or bus terminals. We chose Piazza Mulino 26 mainly because of the accessibility they offer for someone who is in wheelchair. It is one of the few places where you can stay is you need accessibility. The host is also pretty responsive. It was a great stay overall.

Le logement est bien et propre par contre il est situé directement en haut d’un resto-terrasse donc ne pensez pas dormir tôt, très bruyant. Il y a erreur sur l’info sur expédia, tout est barré et il n’y a personne pour nous ouvrir et donner les infos. Faut les appeler, quand on a pas de cellulaire avec internet, on est bien mal pris. La moindre des choses est de nous faire parvenir les infos des codes et numéro de chambre 24h à l’avance. C’était écrit Check-in a 15h et ouvert de 10h à 17h et personne. Heureusement un commerce nous a aidé à appeler quelqu’un pour qu’il nous donne les codes, très moche. Avec 4 chambres à s’occuper, la moindre des choses est d’aviser le client tôt! Pour le bruit très tard, pour le non service, je ne peux recommander.

This property is in a fantastic location and is very affordable. This is not a hotel. There is no front desk staff. We were able to leave our bags with a maid prior to check in. So that was convenient. We were allowed to enter the premises (alone) around 3pm. Check-in on the website said 3:30…. The girl we spoke to said it was 4:00. Anyway, we had had a long day and needed a nap. Fell asleep around 3:30pm… at 4:00 someone knocked loudly on our door waking us up, rudely demanding papers and the $2 tourist tax. I was so upset at being disturbed that I couldn’t fall back asleep and I felt ill the rest of the day. In addition to the staff’s rudeness there was No toilet paper and no one around to give us any No cup in the bathroom No tissues No sheets on the hide a bed Power went out and again no staff around Lost wifi No do not disturb sign Shower leaking Loud buzzing every minute or so from AC which kept me awake most of the night despite having ear plugs Fridge didn’t work No luggage storage at the end of our stay. Checkout was at 10:00 but we had a tour that began at 10:30… The check in is late and the check out is early. When I sent a message to the establishment , I received an insulting email response in return. Overall it was a terrible experience. Thank goodness we only stayed one night.

Chambre très spacieuse et très bien située à l’entrée du centre historique de Matera. Bonne climatisation et bon wifi. Il y a tout près un arrêt du bus n°1 qui mène au terminal des bus vers Bari et les autres villes d'Italie pour ceux et celles qui utilisent ce mode de transport.

We were charged 8 euro but the owner did not have chnge. She promised to get back to us with 2 euro but never did. The entry gate at the front entrance does not work from inside. We had to walk upstairs and through the back gate. The bed cover was very dirty. When we called with issues the owner was very irritated and never showed up again
